223 conversion parts

I recently acquired parts for a star 223 conversion. Came with a powder hopper tha5 is about two feet long, a 223 shell plate, sizing and seating does which look like new, case feed in 223 flaring and powder funnel parts.   Was wondering what else I need to start loading.   Wish I could post a picture but site won’t allow

The only .223 machine I ever saw had links (part 63), that were curved rather than straight, to give more mechanical advantage when sizing the cases.  Sorry I don't have a photo.  The guy that owned it was a collector in Dallas. I had sold him some Dillon parts.  He had several Stars hanging in his workshop, along with the .223 one.

Probably going to be hard to find the bent bars.

You will also need a taller powder slide and housing to get enough powder for the .223 case. I can't remember if it is 1/2 or 5/8" tall.

It's a 5/8" adjustable powder slide.   The housing is special because it holds the expander and powder spout in place.

Might be mission impossible to load 223. Missing too many specialized pieces   I have managed to set up machines in 45 acp 40 S&w 9 mm 38 super 44 magnum 10 mm 38 special all with adjustable powder bars mostly hoag.  Also have the B&G mounting base.   Most important lots of spare parts

It took me years to put together my first Super Star kit with pieces coming from multiple sources.   It took me quite a while just to figure out what all was included in a Super Star kit.   The last kit I acquired came all together in the original box.  All gone now.

Know only about a 100 made. (Speculated)Wonder where they are now. Owners knew what they had. I expect as owners passed, others with no knowledge just “got rid of them”. How unfortunate for those that carry-on with Star.

I live near where Berdon made his version and purchased a few of them in pieces from a partner.
I kept the one for .223 and gave the others to a friend to monkey with.
They are crudely made compared to Star, but I can machine/weld better parts where needed.
They have more travel than a Star. Check out the gun shows, so could be an option for those wanting one .

There just so happens to be some .223 arms on EBay right now…
