Any concerns with RL Shockey Perfection dies?
« on: February 13, 2011, 08:18:06 am »
Hello - I'm new to Stars and reloading in general.  I've searched this very helpful Forum and I now understand the RL Shockey manufactured a "Perfection" die to work with the Star Universal.   My specific question is what has been the experience (positive or negative) of members of this Forum with use Perfection dies by RLS on the Star Universal?   Any caveats?  Thanks in advance.

Hi:
My first STAR Universal has the black blued Perfection Sizer Die (Carbide) in the machine head for .38 Special.
The others in the machine head are also perfections, I would assume.
I have had this machine since 1979/80 and those dies work perfectly then and now (pun intended) (purchased from Mo Defina, gunsmith in CT).
I got this first Star from Mo along with my first S&W 52 38 Special wadcutter.  Mo sold STARs back then for bullseye shooters back in the day.
Never a problem and still on the same decapping pin after all these years and rounds (lost track of count actually).

Now, I do not know who made these dies and if they are the same source as you mention, RL Shockey?
