2.8 B.E. powder slide

Greetings,  In a post entitled "Starting Up", I posed the question about powder and primers around loading a 130 gr lead RNFP for cowboy action.  Everyone was in agreement, the slide on my Star Universal was calibrated to deliver 2.8 gr of Bullseye.  That is a problem.  Bullseye is non-existant in my area.  I have been told by one commercial reloader that there is a powder shortage in Canada.  My question, what options do I have with powder selection?  I am attempting to obtain approx 750 fps with 130 gr lead RNFP. Are there equivilane powders out there I should consider.  I am new to this and do not own any loading manuals so if someone can offer up a few good titles or websites, that would be appreciated.  Lead is available and I can get anywhere from 130-158 gr RNFP so although I would like to stay on the lighter side, I can go to a heavier lead bullet.  Again, as with my first post, I look forward to any and all responses.

Be advised you will likely need either a different bar or chg in the bar itself's capacity.

I would proceed by obtaining an adj bar (contact member user barreltester). Also a loading manual. Various pdr mfgr's have web sites with loading data which provide a wealth of info. There s/b sev pdr's which will do the job. When you have a list compiled find out what is avail the proceed from there

Another "fast" powder that sees use in 38 spl is 700X.  Similar to bullseye in burn rate, unfortunately it does not meter the same.  You will need to adjust the thrown charge as stated.

The conversion chart I have shows that a 2.7 BE slide will throw 3.6 grains of 231 and a 3.0 BE will throw 3.8 grains of 231, so your 2.8 BE slide should throw 3.7 grains of 231.  You didn't say what caliber but I'm guessing .38 Special.  3.7 grains of 231 with a 158 grain bullet would run right around 700 fps according to my Lyman #47 book.

 Gentlemen........Found a local supplier of Bullseye.  Turns out to be an old friend I hadn't seen in years.  I set her all up , loaded 150 yesterday, range tested the ammo today and success!!  Thanks to everyone on the site for help in getting the loader up and running.  Am looking for small primer pick up tubes if someone can suggest who may have access to some.  Thanks in advance.
