Bullet Feeders

I'm curious about bullet feeders for Stars.  I've read the various discussions, and looked at the available pictures, regarding the bullet feeders that were once available (Hulme, MA Systems, Reloaders Equipment Company).

Has anyone successfully adapted something currently available to the Star?

Anyone fabricated a feeder that would place the bullet in the case mouth at the seating station and, therefore, still allow taper crimping separately?

I know there are lots of opinions/arguments on this topic, but if a person wanted to utilize a bullet feed system on a Star Universal, what would be the the best path to take.

Calibers would be the most common, say 9 MM, .38/.357, .45.  Bullets would be both cast & jacketed or plated.

The very best bullet feeder for the Star was made by MA Systems. I have one and it is a beautifully designed attachment that works flawlessly. You can see one in operation on You Tube.

I agree completely with Tony, the MA systems bullet feeder works flawlessly and is beautifully made and like the Star, just using it and watching it work is a pleasure.
Not made any more but if you can find one second hand don't hesitate for a second.

Is the M-A Systems feeder used in conjunction with the standard seater die?  The bullet is placed on the case one station after powder drop and the feeder then moves out of the way and the bullet is seated to full depth.  Correct?

Please provide a link to the video you're referring to.

Looks like you're loading plain lead (not jacketed) bullets in the video, so I take it that feeding cast bullets is not an issue.

What causes/regulates the timing of the extension and retraction of the feed arm?  It looks like it lowers & retracts without the seater die physically pushing it down.

Is it difficult to change calibers?

Any chance you could scan and post a PDF copy of the original M-A instructions?

I have a M.A. system bullet feeder that came with a Dillon 1050 I purchased some years back.  never used it because never felt the need to add more complications to the Dillon machine.  i have six star reloading machines and never have problems like the dillons   LOL.

I sent a PM and don't know if it went through? I never used the bullet feeder but it does run.  It is set up for 9 mm or .40 and has the Mr bullet feeder, bullet feeder that attaches to press head

Just to clarify:

661Mack and I have communicated. He has a set-up that includes a M-A Systems COLLATOR with a MR. BULLETFEEDER feeder, that had been utilized on a Dillon press.

rangedog thanks for the video , picked up a couple of those feeders years and and never messed with setting them up just might have to pull 1 out and tinker with it
