So did I screw up ?
« on: June 07, 2011, 08:37:45 am »
Been wanting to add a case feeder and had settled on the Dillon XL 650 feeder, then I came across a NOS Chevron Case Feeder and it's on the way here

George what type of retrofitting are you talking ?
Only reason I went with the Chevron was to keep more of a correct / period set-up

I misunderstood you, i thought you were putting it on a 650, if your using a Star, its ready to go, sorry about the confusion, i have 3 Chevron feeders on my stars, theres a couple diff shell plates for the Chevron, each will load several diff cases, i have also copied the Chevron and made 2 more, George.

The Cheveron was made in Rockford Illinois by a small job shop and sold by a Mr Rodger Fulmer, (Sparky) outside of Ottawa Illinois at buffalo Rock Shooters Supply. The drop tubes & micro switches were the only repair items that we ever shipped out after a sale. The shell plates are easy to make with a router and a drill press. Drop tube like the ones shipped with the Cheveron units can be had from M-A Systems, they are a little shorter but they also sell additional tube & flex spring tube to make what you need. P

I have one chevron.  It works great.  I could use another if anyone has one.  It is nice to keep the same vintage my older reloading equipment.

They were for use with a Star if memory serves but the Freeloader pretty much put them out of business.  The Freeloader was a funnel system costing about 1/8th of a Chevron and worked better.

The above post was what put me second guessing
Hope to have it in hands Monday, here's the pics I've got

I used thin wall Auger Tubing, you want seemless tubing, the motors are available from Dayton Motors, the Micro Switch can be bought from most Auto Parts Stores, the shell plate is easy to make, but there is a part that secures the motor shaft to the shell plate, it should be machined to fit properly, Total cost on making mine was $65.00, George.
