Howdy Ya'll I would like to buy some dies...
« on: June 16, 2013, 11:06:13 pm »
Howdy Everyone,
I am Garrett. I live here in Oklahoma, and I just bought a Star reloader from a family friend.   I got a very good deal, but I am looking to reload .45 ACP with this reloader.  Does anyone have any for sale?  I am very new to this so I will be doing a lot of reading and maybe ask a question or two.

Thanks,
Garrett

Thanks for the warm welcome.  I am terrible with how I write things out sometimes. I did not say exactly what I am looking for.  The press I bought is a universal press.  I am looking for the parts that will allow me to reload .45 ACP.  In my haste to start looking, I assumed I was just needing dies.  I hope I have cleared this up... :)

Welcome George
This is a great forum...and I'm new too. You should have no problem finding 45ACP dies for your Universal. Depending on what was loaded on it before you may need the primer seating stem (I don't know the right name for it) and the right size primer tube....and then the powder charge bar.

I love my Stars and have gotten a LOT of information , help and advice from the gentlemen on here.

Currently there is a set of 45ACP dies and shellplate on Ebay.

As another option the old C&H, now C&H4 will make you some of the dies. There is also another guy that is making shellplates. You have to piecemeal the parts you need in the aftermarket. You probably need the taper crimp die if you are going to shoot in competition.
As mentioned E-bay is an option.

Rich Daniels  aka  "BarrelTester" on this forum can make the dies and shellplates and provide some of the parts necessary to convert.
The fortunate aspect is .45acp is the most common second only to .38. so finding the necessary items should not be that difficult.

I have a .45 ACP sizer that's not making my WCC cases small enough for jacketed bullets.

Can get you some readings on the OD of sized cases if you want.

Anyway, interested in selling it to finance its replacement. I'm just not interested in seeing if it works for the pile of R-P type cases I have stashed away. Want to wear out this W series first...
