need Taper Crimp Die in .44mag

Setting up a new to me machine in .44mag. It came with .44 special dies so I should be close to what I need?
Can I use a 1/2" powder slide or should I plan on getting a 5/8".
Any other problems I might run into?
The hole for the taper crimp is the star threaded type.

I have a 44 Taper Crimp Die in stock.   I also have a beautiful Redding Profile Crimp die with the Star 11/16-24 thread.

1/2" or 5/8"?  depends on your charge, but you can probably get by with 1/2" for 44 Special.  For 44 Magnum I would definitely go 5/8" unless you plan to shoot powder puff loads.

Bruce is your best bet for the TC die. 

this may be of interest to you. I have a 1/2" star bar for 8.9 grs of 700-X pwd. a 2pc star 3/16 spacer bar set, and the 00 pwd housing base with the proper length screws,  can ship the 3 items to your for $60 by  small flat rate box within the US.
All are in pristine condition.

The Taper Crimp die works well for light loads.

For heavy loads consider buying a second seating die to use for roll crimping at the last station.

I'll be shooting heavy loads out of a revolver so I'll go for the tighter roll crimp.

When I set up the extra head for .45 Lc I'll use a taper crimp as they will be light lead loads.

The Redding Profile Crimp die is a Roll Crimp Die, and it is the better choice for 44 Magnum.

From Redding:

"These handgun cartridge crimp dies were designed for those who want the best possible crimp. Profile crimp dies provide a tighter, more uniform roll type crimp, and requires the bullet to be seated to the correct depth in a previous  operation.  These dies are not for cartridges that headspace on the case mouth. "


I have extra 44 Seating dies also.
