Greetings Rob,

You are the first person I have seen to have owned an original Progressive in 32 S&W Long.

My welder friend and I have considered modifying an old Progressive back to 32 Long.

So far, we are still talking since both of us have too many other projects to deal with.

Cheers,

Dave

... and he is usually quite good about getting back to you.  BTW, if you are reading this, Dave, I hope you will start a new thread and keep us apprised of any progress on the 32 Progressive conversion if you pursue it.  I for one would dearly love to have mine converted, especially if 32 H&R or even better 327 Fed Mag were a possibility.  Thirty eight special is just so...ordinary!!  ;)

Greetings Froggie,

I am currently machining a set of dies for the 327 Federal. They are basically the 32 S&W Long dies with the exception of the expander plug, which needs to be shorter to clear the powder bar.

So, when finished, the dies will load 32 S&W Long, 32 H&R Magnum, and the new 327 Federal Magnum.

My friend and ace welder modified his Star Progressive to allow the use of the #79 Shell Locating Straps. With this change, cases 38 Special and smaller can be used, as long as the shell plate clears.

Cheers,

Dave

Interesting,   I'm in the process of doing much the same.   I'm converting a number of Star Progressives to "Universal Progressives" which will be capable of loading all of the "classic" small primer pistol cases....basically 40 S&W and smaller.
(and no, it will not load 45 ACP with small primers)
