Hi folks, I owe you all an apology as I should have asked everyone here, if anyone was interested in these two machines before I put them on eBay. If you have not seen my listing, go on eBay and look at the two stars I have listed. I definitely want to sell them, but they need to go to STAR PEOPLE. Anyone here serious about owning Hulme Bullet fed machines please give me a call. If I don't have to deal with eBay fees maybe we can come to a happy agreement. Thanks, Gene 845-626-4343 leave a call back number if I don't answer.

Thanks Guys, I am probably being a little too nuts about it. It stands to reason, (I would think), Star would have made the mouth of the spout be below the case mouth, before the powder drop takes place. On my machine, the spout is about 3/16"-1/4" above case mouth when powder free falls. A small piece of a straw, or clear rigid tubing would fix it, but I wanted to know if there was indeed, a specific spout for 9MM. It don't look right watching the powder free fall into the case. I think this is something easily overlooked, especially when you think of wanting to load .380, where it's even shorter. AnyWay, Always appreciate the feedback! Thanks!

Hi All, I just set up a machine to dedicate for 9MM. It seems my powder is free falling a little to get into the case. I can only assume the powder spout length is too short for the height of the 9MM case. Anybody know what the correct spout NUMBER is for 9MM , and does anyone have one. Thanks!

Star Reloaders / Re: bullet feeder for star

Hi, I have an original HULME bullet feeder, on my 45 machine. This machine has a Hulme bullet feeder, Hulme case feeder, and a Brewster indexer. When all tubes are full, this baby cranks them out! The only thing it's missing, is a case kicker. I don't load for speed, as much as I enjoy loading with all original ERA equipment. I just found a complete 38 machine set up the same way, but have not had time to play with it. On this forum, there are a few STAR MACHINE experts, and parts duplicators. Any bullet feeder, other than a Hulme, will have to be adapted to a STAR. There is a Hulme bullet feeder (not complete) on Ebay right now, if you want to see what it looks like. I hope to get a utube clip of one of my machines in operation for those, who have not seen one, and can appreciate what was done years ago. The Hulme bullet feeder, is an incredibly intricate looking device. You gotta love these machines!!!!!!!

The last position in an older HEAD had a .375" hole. It was not threaded. Marden was a company that made an after market TC that utilizes that hole. I have an older machine with one in it.

Hi Folks, I just recently found this machine, and thought there might be some interest in seeing it. This machine is an engineering marvel! With the Brewster indexer, Hulme Case Feeder, and the Hulme Bullet Feeder, this machine kicks BUTT! I am still very careful of whats going on, because there's ALOT GOIN ON! The machine ran flawlessly for the first 100 rounds, and then I had my first jam, which seems to happen if the bullet does not fall smoothly into the Jaws. I think excessive bullet lube is the big problem. AnyWay, I will try to get a YouTube clip of it operating. It's great!

Hope the picture comes out, thanks for looking!

I have seen two different head stamps with TZZ. One was TZZ dated, and the other was TZZ MATCH. The TZZ dated had crimpped primers, and the Match were beautiful cases. There is a fair amount floating around in my part of NY.

Loading Data & Reloading Procedures / Re: Difficult primer seating

Thought you would like to know! I picked up some 45 brass after an IDPA shoot last week, and when I was loading them, the handle on my star stopped DEAD, like I hit a wall. it was Federal brass cases with small primer pockets. I am glad I read about this on the forum. That was the first place I looked to see what the problem was. I never had my machine stop like that! Check the primer pockets!

I don't know how rare these goodies are, I thought they were worth mentioning. In an old cigar box that my Dad had for his extra reloading parts, I found a set of phelps 38 S&W dies, and a "Lifetyme" 44 sizer/decap die with 7/8x14 threads. I don't think the 38S&W dies are rare, but I don't know for sure. I never heard of Liftyme with 7/8X14. On another note, for the use of the word RARE, I just bought a Star that looks like it was made this morning, with an extra head, and dies & shell plates for 38sp, 45acp, 9mm, and 44mag. I feel like I hit STAR MACHINE LOTTO! To find all that in one buy is definitely RARE! I need new GUNS! I now have 3 Stars, and 1 Phelps. Back in the 50's, my Dad used the Phelps to feed the family by loading for all the local police departments.

Sorry if I got carried away! I like conversation about RARE!

Hi, I know exactly what you are refering to! I have a Star 45acp with the most unusual case kicker. It eliminates the last station. An arm swings through that position indexing the machine and kicking the  finished shell out, in one operation. This case kicker eliminates the safety cam, and prohibits use of the last station. I am about to remove this device so I can put tapered crimp die in that last station. This machine has the standard roll crimp which has caused me some problems in a S.A. Army I have with a 45ACP cylinder. Roll crimped ACP's don't work well in cylinders. Must use tapered crimp. Anyway, to respond to your original question, depending on what you are loading, that last station (as far as I know) is used for tapered crimp dies. If your shell does not require a tapered crimp, just plug the hole and use the kicker.

I must mention, There are a lot more qualified people here to reference than myself. I am a beginner! These guys know what they are talking about!

Alwiddis! First, Let me say, God Bless you, and Thank You for your Service! I'm glad to hear you had some trigger time for fun! I appreciate your kind words for Dave Wilson. I had a great, lengthly conversation with Dave two weeks ago. He is without question a top shelf "tool & die maker". It was his recommendation that I try and find a Post TC die before he re-machines my tool head to accept one of his custom TC dies. I actually sent payment to Bill Cunningham at Star Machine Works for a used POST TC DIE he had. I'm just waitting for it. I plan on working with Dave on a 9MM set up as soon as I complete my 45acp.

Enjoy your time home! Stay safe! Thank You Again for your Service! Gene

Ok, I am now more confused! Let me start from the begining. I have a Star, first station is resize & decap, second is neck expander & prime, third is powder, fourth & last is seat & crimp. How would you seat a bullet and crimp if it's not done at the same station? Are you using two different stations to seat and crimp? If so please explain. I want to seat and taper crimp in one operation. (is this not the correct way to do this?) Thanks
