One thing to look for!

My one piece of SPP .45 was CCI Blaser.

My club collects all the range brass and recycles it for our junior program.
Going through the brass bucket at my club found almost a dozen or so, also CCI Blaser.

No others so far.

Finally experienced a small primer brass problem. What a PIA!
Locked the machine right up, needing dis-assembly to get it back up and running.

( I purchased new LP slide because one slightly deformed and needed tweaking)bThank you Bruce!

Not sure how I got the sp case as I only try to re-use my fired brass, but…

Does anyone know which manufactures use small pistol?
I am not sorting/checking visually, which adds very little time but is another step.

Anyone have any suggestions for quick identification or separation?

Maybe a primer follower as well.

Star Reloaders / 3D printing
« on: May 31, 2025, 08:04:18 pm »
Picked up a 3D printer. Mainly because New York is starting background checks and may begin registering users. Typical Socialist crap from our useless Democratic/Socialist state government.

Have found many files online  for Dillon accessories to make, but zero for Star so far.
Anyone have any or know of some?
Would like a powder measure top to sort powder/bullet when puling.
Possibly other items as well.
Anyone have any or know of a source.
Thanks in advance.

I try not to use Glock fired brass, but get some occasionally. To fix this, I use a Lee .003 undersize sizing die in a separate single stage press. I removed the decapping pin. This die works well and has eliminated the "Glock bulge" issues.
I would expect you could get the Lee die machined to Star threads. Would just need to be careful in setup, that it does not encounter the locator tabs.

Thanks Bruce.
Knew you had the info!
Would like it but it is at a price point, I cannot justify.

I believe that Star experimented with .223 presses for possible Military applications with the adoption of the Colt AR in Vietnam. Might be one of the early model prototypes? Not sure how many were actually built, but the number is certainly low.
Mike Dillon noted the lack of production for the .223 and availability resulted in his production of his .223 Superstar platform.
I am sure Bruce can add to the history.

Correct Bruce. My confusion on brand.
Thinking of one and wrote the other.

Thanks for the correction.

Greetings,

The plastic tubes may have been for the Hulme case feeder.

Cheers,

Definitely primer tubes. Were 2 of each.

Green paint on a Star?
Thought that was a Phelps thing.

I helped an acquaintance in the 80s (maybe early 90s) set his up, and when unpacking it, I recall 4 plastic primer tubes in a cardboard tube.
Do not recall if there were Brass as well. Also possible they could have been extras, or from another source?
The machine came from Gil Hebard.

I have a 'bunch' of the plastic which I got from an owner that had them left over after he sold his machine.
Would you like a few?
More than happy to send you some?

The majority, and all the early models shipped with Brass tubes. Star did ship with some plastic in the early 80s (?).
Unknown if their tubes or made for them. Bruce Williams may know for sure.

Probably right on the drop through bushing. Picture not really clear showing the taper.
I tried to use the grid for sizing.
Good eye.

Fairly confident in saying they are not press parts. I do not recognize at all.  Lubrisizer: maybe, do not know.
Bruce Williams (RBWillNJ) on this site, is able to tell you conclusively.
good luck!

Great communication with Brownhat, but decided against it. In thinking it over, the amount I would reload for 44 is minimal.
