Here are a few pics.

This is a rather uncommon item.

Star Reloaders / RCBS Star Dies
« on: July 07, 2014, 08:32:19 pm »
Does anybody have any info to share on Star Dies set made by RCBS?

I know skilled craftsmen have cut and retread 7/8 dies to Star thread.

I mean when did RCBS make Star die sets?

Midway has it

http://www.midwayusa.com/viewproduct/?productnumber=176245

Works for 7/8-14 to 310 die or 55 powder measure thread (same)

Re tap internal to Star thread and use in a modified tool head.

The ones I've seen are made by Lyman to adapt the 310 hand tool dies to
7/8-14. The ID thread needs to be re-tapped to match the Star TPI.
MCM sells the taps.

Hope this helps.

Do you have any idea what the projected cost is?

An estimate would do.

Thanks,

What powders are you interested in?
I made up an Excell spreadsheet to calculate theoretical dwop weights.
I clarify this because the Lee chart is a little on the lite side.
So sometimes the actual weight can be off a tenth.

I'll second that. I know they can be made with some spring steel.
But a Pic would go a long way to explain how to bend it.

Star Reloaders / Re: Primer Slide

Again I'm replying to my own post, (sorry)

I've been told that the reason for the second hole is to
smooth out operation. The hole was put there to let air
escape.

Sounds logical. I've observed this in well made equipment
made by machinists (tool & die grade)

Star Reloaders / Re: Powder Measure Question

I've been told that is improper to respond to your own post, but if it answers the questions posed
then I feel its OK.

The powder slide cam was installed backwards. The curve of the finger was toward the powder
magazine instead of away. So we now know it can be installed both ways.  :)

I had one press taken apart for cleaning, conditioning. The second press had the slide cam installed
backwards. When I put the press back together I used the other as a model.
Now I know better.

Maybe another new Star owner will remember this and learn from my error.

Some primer slides have 2 holes. Some have 1.

Does it matter?

Star Reloaders / Powder Measure Question
« on: November 26, 2006, 06:14:18 am »
I receintly picked up a Star and have been cleaning it up and getting to know it.

The powder slide cam contacts the powder magazine as the head assembly actuates up and down.
I see no adjustment to keep this from happening. On one powder magazine a grouve is forming
in the brass adapter.

Could one of the more experienced Star users explain if this is the way its supposed to be,
and if needed how to adjust/correct it.

Thanks in advance.

I just picked up a 92FS in 9mm so I will be doing more of it.
So 9 mm will be second. 38 Spl third.
