John,
Mind if I ask where you got the chute from?  Been looking for one to complement the RV case kicker.
TIA,

Star Reloaders / Re: Anyone know what flavor of feeder this is?
« on: November 28, 2014, 12:57:05 pm »
Joe,

I looked at the picture and thought the bullet feeder looked familiar.  Take a look at the attached PDF file as I think it is the same device in your picture.

http://califpistolmatches.com/documents/Star_Machine/Reloaders%20Equipment.pdf

I remember seeing a bunch of accessories for the Star press back in the 60s and 70s when the Star was the reloading press to have.  What I was really interested was a bullet feeder for the Star sizer & lubricator this company made.  I still have their advertisement or flyer around here somewhere.  IIRC, it was a device similar to the Hulme feeder in that bullets were filled into a tube and the operator didn't have to touch the bullets.  Company claimed it doubled the operator speed and reduced pinched fingers and cuts.

Star Reloaders / Re: Moon unit round flipper

No problem with the delay in responding as it gave me a chance to reload a few hundred rounds with my Star and examine how the flipper works.
Honestly, I am stumped as to why your flipper is not working for you.

Is it possible the stanchion or post on which the case kicker is mounted could be slightly bent or crooked?

Rangedog,
thanks for posting a picture.  I looked at my setup and it appears to be a clone of your setup.  I guess the next question is what happens if you remove the case kicker?  Does the last round center itself in the taper crimp die when you lower the tool head?  Or does the last round center itself into the taper crimp die ?

I think there is a typo in the above referenced link.  It should be

www dot sbsdistributing dot com

I agree the Ray's Moon indexer is pretty good.  I have one and although it is a pain to clear a jam at times, it works well and a labor saver.

I saw this ad posted at bullseyeforum.net and thought I pass it along in case anyone is interested.  It sounds like it comes as a complete system except for an operator. . .

Stars Want to Sell/Want to Buy / Re: WTB: springs
« on: May 10, 2012, 09:08:58 am »
Thanks for the tip.  So far, I haven't seen any springs posted on eBay for awhile now.

I thought I would post here first before since the collective wisdom of the list always seem to know where to find compatible parts too.

Wow!  What an interesting setup.  While I have a product manual for their product, it does not have picutres in it so I always imagined the setup to be different.

Thanks for posting the pictures.  This is almost as good as seeing a picture of bigfoot in the wild.
Off hand, do you remember what the reloader sold for on eBay?

Loading Data & Reloading Procedures / Re: Phelps die head in 7/8x 14
« on: September 07, 2010, 10:12:03 am »
I recently bought a phelps die head which is drilled and tapped for 7/8x14 dies but only the sizing and seating/crimping positions are 7/8.What is conventional wisdom for the mouth expanding position.I wrongly assumed I could use a normal die set with this head.Thoughts solutions?
Wayne

Wayne,

Perhaps I don't understand your question.  But why can't you decap the primer and size the case at the first station without belling the case mouth?

Star Reloaders / Re: Cover for the Star Reloader?
« on: October 01, 2009, 05:41:45 pm »
Instead of a vacuum or canned air - I use a inexpensive paintbrush to dust and sweep occasionally.  This works well most of the time except if I get a large piece of corn cob media under the shellplate.

As for a cover, I found a canvas rice sack works well and is a good fit.  Although it took awhile to finish off 50 lbs of rice.
