Star Reloaders / Re: Star reloaders

You have all that you need to reload for .45.  If you are a .45 cal shooter you should change the dies in one of your machines for .45 cal or purchase another tool head for one of your machines with a set of .45 cal dies.  I have two Stars.  One for .45 cal which I never change out and a second which is set for .38cal but can be changed out for over calibers should I need to.

I believe Ebay is the wrong place to purchase Star parts.  You can now purchase dies from C-H.  I just received a .38 cal taper crimper die that is perfect.  See my recent posting titled dies for the star.  The best place to get star parts is from members of this site or from people at the Gun clubs you visit.  There is a growing number of sources for parts.  You can now get indexers, case feeders and case loaders, variable charge bars, large capacity power reservoirs and dies.

Star Reloaders / Re: Leaving pdr in mag between loadings

I agree to the effects of humidity.   I have loaded ammo in my Star for 25 years without problem.  I never remove the power in my large capacity reservoir unless I am changing out the charge bars.  I do try to keep the humidity between 50% and 60%.  I have a dehumidifier and a humidistat to monitor the environment in my basement reloading area. It is a better environment for my machine tools, guns, and reloading machines. High humidity would probably effect your power in the storage container as well as the power reservoir.  Perhaps your power is contaminated from the high humidity.

I just received a .38 taper crimp die for my star reloader from C-H. $46 delivered.  Looks good.  I asked them for a list of parts available for the Star.  They sent me the following:
The calibers they have... 30 carbine, 32 ACP/S&W, 38/357, 38 Super, 380 ACP, 9mm, 10mm/40 S&W, 41 Mag, 44 Spl/Mag, 45 ACP, 45 Colt.
They have Sizer, Seater, and Taper Crimp dies for all calibers listed.
Carbine Sizer $75
Seater $65
Expander $20
One set of all of the above $150
Taper Crimp die $40

They noted that anyone asking for shell plates should be referred to Rich Daniels 860-966-0693
