Star Reloaders / Re: New to Star Presses
« on: March 02, 2013, 01:59:04 pm »
Tony, welcome to the Star forum.  You will find a wealth of information here and a surplus of people who are willing to help you.  I reccomend that you read all of the archive messages as they will answer a lot of your questions.  As somewhat of a newby myself I have found answers to many of my questions here.  I have interacted with some of the members and found them to be most helpful. As far as prices of machines and equipment that you have and want to sell or parts that you need, I would check here first on the for sale forum and then check with ebay and compare the prices.  Members here are genuinely interested in the Star as a practical tool and appreciate it for the design, function, simplicity and beauty of the machine.   Ebay on the other hand is a point of sale for some of the members here as well as those who only deal with Star as a money maker.  You will find parts here that you will not find on the open market.  There are also other sites that have equipment that deals with Star, you will find links to them here and through the older posts.  If I may be of any assistance, do not hesitate to ask.    Marty :)

Star Reloaders / Re: Case Indexer

To  rbwillnj;   I tracked down a link and a picture with instructions.   I have the brewster indexer.  It is complete except for the finger on the link arm.   If this is the part you have, how much?    Thanks for your information.    Marty

There is an actuator that mounts on one of the links that makes the whole thing work.   If you don't have it, I have a couple of new ones.  I also have a set of instructions.

Similar in operation except mine bridges the aluminum base plate  instead of mounting to it.  The case index arm on mine is a short aluminum spring operated one with a cut-out in the end of it for the case.  I need to see the type of connection from the indexer to the machine that makes it work.  Thank you for the reply.   Marty

Star Reloaders / Case Indexer

I ended up with a case indexer in a recent purchase and I need to see the extra parts to make it work.  I need help to post a picture of it here.

It is black and all cast aluminum with a slide that moves the case into position when operated. No name. But it did come from a Star reloader. It has two feet and is cut out to slide under the primer feed, about 11 inches long and with an arm that sticks up about 9 inches.      Marty

I would like to see a working star machine.  I have 2 machines that are in pieces and I would like to put them in operation.  They are bare machines with no bullet or case feeders or progressive accessories. Is it best to leave them with original dies or upgrade to modern dies?  I will be loading pistol only on them. (38...45). Thanks in advance   Marty

Did a bit of research today.......Dies on one press are .30 carbine and the other is .38 spcl. (Perfection die). Pat.No. on machine is 2031850........one press is stamped  44 on parts the other is  27.    Marty
