Search "Old Star Lubrisizer" on this forum you will see one like this one.

I have seen a 38 progressive press of the similar era with the same brass plaque and I think it had the "patend pending cast in. Ricketts on ebay had it. I dont think it was the first Star 38 progressive prototype built.

I have an old RCBS "2A" press that shows patend pending also.  I dont think that makes it a "protoype", only an early production model made before the patend was issued.

There is no doubt that your lube sizer is and early one.  As for it being a "THE" prototype built from the first sketches drawn on a piece of cardboard. No.

In my expierience it will cost just about the same to buy what you are asking for as it would to buy a complete machine.

The was a NEW head complete with dies, powder housing , slide, shellplate on ebay for $425.

I don know if it sold.

Is that the RL 1000 that was on  ebay with the dillon case trimmer?

I looked at that one too. I also called Dillon to see if it was rebuilt like the guy was saying.  The guy I talked to worked there for 25 yrs( so I thought he knew what he was talking about) said they have not rebuilt any RL 1000's in 2-3 years.

I am with Grant.  I have seen pictures of them before but without seeing one installed and in operation, I am at a loss on how the machine activates the feeder.

Being a Hulme, I am guesing it would activate similar to the Hulme case feeder.

 Doc,

Is that the bullet feeder you were looking to trade out?

I have never found any info on the Hulme Bullet Feeder.  Some Star guys swear that a Hulme bullet feeder doesn't even exist.

I would love to get my hands on one myself. I have seen them for sale but the seller will not say if the parts were all there and doesnt know how it works.

If there is any information out there, this would be the place to find it.

I tried setting my Hulme feeder with Chevron  up for 44 mag with a lot of miss feeds.  It seems the weight of the cases stacked on top of each other causes the top of the case to stick while the bottom gets pushed out.  I tried to cycle fast and slow with no luck.  This caused alot of miss feeds for me. The only way I got it to work is only fill the tube with a few case at a time.

I gave up and took the hulme feeder off and put it away in a box.

I have tried to gain the same info you are seeking with no success.  Nothing shows up on google. Only a few pics show up here. I too have never seen one mounted or had one in person to try myself.  It seems that style feeder was not popular at all.
I was eyeballing a feeder like you are decribing but have decided not to get it due to lack of information.  Seller wont or cant tell me if it complete.  I am not willing to spend $150 (plus shipping)on something that I dont even know if it works and the seller wont verify it either.

If I could get it in my hands to see how it functioned and how complete it is or lack there of, I would be more likely to buy it.  Until then probably not.

I think USP shipping comes with $100 insurance automatically.

Problem might be they will say they were not packaged properly.

I have seen some welder before .......So it can definetly be done.
