A newly restored progressive loader, see attached History& Powder drain sheets for details
Priced at $850 shipped within the lower 48 states, other locations per carriers rates.
Note:
The powder drain included with this machine can be moved to a 2nd loader in less the 60 seconds, no more spilled powder, a real convenience, wish I had one back when I was loading 2&3 different loads.arh

I just inherited a colt 38super . I have a star currently set up for 45acp. How will a 38 spl convert to super. Thought you might know off hand.

Hi: I guess you mean you inherited a pistol in 38 super caliber?
The cartridges for 38 spl (a rimed) case and the 38 super ( a rimless case ) are quite different in size and powder charge.
Recommend your get a reloading manual if you don't have one at this time. I like Lyman's 47th Reloading Handbook .... this has all the information you could ever need.
If you want to load 38 super on your Star set up for45acp , you will need a 3pc small primer set and dies and a shell plate for the Super. If you want to convert a 38 spl machine to 38 super you need a shell plate and set of dies.
Recently there was a Star in 38 Super for sale on the internet, I was tempted to buy this and restore to like new condition for sale, but decided the demand for 38 super is not too strong.
Unless you plan to shoot a lot or 38 super, the least expensive option is a 'single stage press' with dies for 38 super, etc, RCBS is a good choice.
Hope I've answered your question.

to wfgiles: I overlooked the most popular way to load 38 spl / 38 Super on a Star set up for 45 acp...........most purchase a separate tool head in the desired caliber,38 Super in your case,Removal of the 45 head and installation of the 38 head is quick and easy, more costly usually but this is the most common way of switching from one caliber to another. The use of shell plate and dies while less expensive is easily learned and becomes routine after a change over or two.
Shell plate with dies or a dedicated tool head in 38 Super will both be hard to find.
