Title: Difference between "0" and "00" powder slide housing base
Post by: straycat23 on March 03, 2014, 04:02:30 pm
Which of the 2, "0" or "00" is a thinner powder slide? I always thought "00" was thinner, but I'm probably wrong. I have a slide that is unmarked and 2 slides that are marked "00". The "00" appears to be thicker than the unmarked powder slide, which I'm guessing now is a "0". Now I have 2 "00" powder slides, what I think is a "0" powder slide and what I think is a "0" powder slide housing base. The base is also unmarked. Any help on this would be appreciated. :-\

The "0" size powder slide housing uses a 1/4" thick powder slide.   The "00" size powder slide housing uses a 5/16" thick powder slide.

You could use a 1/16" spacer between the lid and the housing to use "00" powder slides with a No.0 housing.

Thanks. That's what I needed to know.

I guess I need to know one more thing. Are you able to use the "00" powder slide housing base on the Progressive Star Reloading presses? In other words, do they fit both the Progressive and Universal presses?

They should be fully interchangable, as the screw holes, etc. are in the same locations.  The primary differance is in slide height, which will require the approriate length screws.
