Title: hulme cleaning & maintenance
Post by: Kirk A on May 25, 2011, 11:00:03 pm
Recently, my 3rd Star arrived -- a Universal varnished with years of oil. Since it was packaged is a dismantled state, I have taken the opportunity to learn about every screw and fastener as I clean and restore it, piece by piece, fastener by fastener.

I would like to similarly clean the Hulme case feeder, but I honestly cannot figure out how to disassemble it. So, I am your expert advice. What is the take-down technique for this? (This appears to be a later model, with the short bolt.)

Thanks,
Kirk

Greetings,

The Hulme I possess come apart in this manner.

Slacken the setscrew in the end of the cylindrical pusher.
Remove the roller and pin on the side being careful the cylindrical pusher does not fly out.
Slowly remove the cylindrical pusher and spring.

Cheers,

Dave

Terrific advice, Dave! In the recess of the plunger, I failed to notice the set screw behind a veneer of grime.

Thank you.

The Instructions for installing the Hulme case feeder has at the bottom of the page the following statement:

"THIS DEVISE IS LUBRICATED WITH LUBRIPLATE, KEEP IT LUBRICATED"

Good Shooting
