Greetings,
I was reflecting on a 1972 Gil Hebard catalog and saw an advertisement for a "So-Mar" Indexer.
Does anyone on the list own one?
I would like to learn more about this device. Hopefully some photos and a scan of the instruction manual could become available?
Cheers,
Dave Wilson
PS So-Mar Indexer only. Please do not reply with other brands.

Never owned one, but I do have an original brochure for the Somar Indexer and Somar E-Z Handle.
I noticed that there was a machine that just sold on eBay that had the Somar Indexer. I think that might be the only one I've seen.

Any chance of you scanning in a copy of the brochure or is it too long?

Too big to post on the forum, but I sent you an email with the PDF

Hello,
I've recently received a So-Mar indexer mounted on a Universal,
it's not cleaned up yet, but here are some pics as requested.
Note- idk why, but someone drilled & tapped the Allen screw, it limited the
travel. I removed the screw and dropped an Allen key in the original pin hole
it indexes fully and cycles smooth. But the person who modified it prolly forced
it and it's cracked at the weak point, perhaps repairable.
I'd sure appreciate a copy of that pdf if available.
If anyone wants more info/pics, or wants to copy the indexer, just let me know.
Thanks,
Fred
ps the seller of the Universal said it was in .38spcl... but I found it's actually .38acp - yay!

Don't have a pdf, but here are pictures of the brochure.....I think these may have been posted in the past, but not sure.

I acquired one if the indexers a few years ago. It is an unusual concept and structure and is certainly not in line with the popular Moon indexer but is still interesting to operate. It should not be considered as a significant time or labor reducing implement. Mileage may vary.

I just put 2 Somar indexers on 2 of my Stars, mabey not as fast as the moon and some others, I really like them, the thing I like about them, is they sit low next to the case feeder, and don't clutter up the machine like the others do, George.

Frankly, I cannot see how a So-Mar indexer can be used with:
A- A loaded round ejector.-, or more importantly--
B- A Taper crimp die
Please explain how it can be used !

Jerry, my two Stars are loading rimmed cases, that fall threw the base of the Machine, and they are roll crimped, not taper crimped. George.
