Good luck!

Bruce  Williams (RBWillNJ-on this site) may have some in stock.
If not contact Rich Daniels (BarrelTester-on this site) and he can probably make one for you.

One of my presses often does the same thing. Same for another member of my club that I am aware of.  The spring does provide resistance and maintains control on both the down and upstroke. It will drop down a small amount from the highest point, (never measured it)  but not so far as to impact any of the reloading processes, (powder, primer, etc.)
No issues or impacts with this that I can see, as it does not impact reloading.

If not obvious the main difference and easiest way to tell is the shell locator strap on the base between the case feeder and the primed assembly.
There is none on the Progressive.

Nice job on the cut-outs, and the screw adjustable straps!

Depending on your locale in CT, I am in Dutchess County NY, about an hour from Canaan area, same from Danbury.
Would be happy to talk and if in area, subject to my availability, happy to do a short hands on.

From the picture, the press looks in very good condition. I would suggest some minor dis-assembly (Same as swapping a head for a different caliber) and a good wipe down with a soft cloth and quality lubricant to remove trace rust.

As far as lubrication, you will get a lot of varied answers. I use a little graphite based lube to prevent friction, but do not over-do-it, and I do not recommend grease based lubricants to prevent buildup.

You should be able to get a lot of answers to questions, from the many posts on this site, as well as on the home page portion.

Bad Apple

Did you machine the base to accept the locator straps?

The video shows the Star w/locator strap right in the front.
These were found on the Universal,  not the Progressive.

I have seen a 32 S&W long, I have yet to see a 38 S&W that was original Star.

You "could" but would be much better off with caliber specific dies, especially for seating and crimp issues.

Suggest you contact Bruce Williams  (RBWillNJ) on this site for dies and plate.
You also have Rich Daniels (BarrelTester) on this site that can fabricate both for a star.

That is if no one answers your WTB post!

It appears to be an angle roller lever where an indexer was installed.

Very nice machine. You did a nice job.

Wish I could get it, but not an option at this time.
