Lindy, it looks like your ten spot mould would empty out that little pot in about two or three pours!   8) Manipulating it during fills and dumps should be great exercise though.  ;)

Star Lubricator & Resizers / Re: Star sizer w/ Lee TL Bullets
« on: December 19, 2021, 06:19:03 pm »
OK, I didn't make myself clear as I should.  I want a wadcutter bullet with a whole bunch of tiny stripes of some hard lube (like Carnauba Red) in their many grooves designed for liquid lube instead.  What I'm thinking of is to have hard lubed bullets that will behave like the old commercial swaged bullets that have knurled surfaces and some sort of mica and wax coating.  I'm hoping somebody has tried something similar so I'll have a basis for start-up.  FWIW, I'm already planning on heating the hard wax lube... I know that will be a necessity.

Star Lubricator & Resizers / Star sizer w/ Lee TL Bullets

Iím wondering whether anyone here has actually tried using a Star sizer (and a die with all lube holes open) to size and lube any of the bullets of the Lee Tumble Lube design?  Iíd like to just kiss the perimeter of some Lee 32 gr TLWCs and fill those tiny little grooves. Am I barking at the moon?

Love the ruby insertÖ if it doesnít work up to your expectations, you can always pull it out and give it to your (very skinny) girlfriend.  :D  ;D

Star Reloaders / Re: Seating SWCs on my Progressive.

Thanks NYKenn.  This is working up toward the top of my to-do list and should be done within the next month or so.  I'm hoping to set my Star Progressive and Star Lubricator on their own little bench dedicated to loading 38 Spl only, but readily switchable between 38 MRWC and SWC.

Star Reloaders / Seating SWCs on my Progressive.
« on: May 15, 2021, 07:49:03 pm »
Many years ago I bought an old Star Progressive that came from the John Amber estate.  It was/is set up with Hulme case feeder but otherwise out of the box stock, equipped to reload mid range 38 wad cutters for Bullseye competition.    I donít shoot very many 38s and though we got the press up and running several years ago, it mostly languishes in my basement.  :'(
During one of several abortive attempts to start using it once again, I contacted Bruce and purchased but never installed a seater to seat semi wad cutters rather than the current full wad cutters. My question is (if we ignore powder charge for the moment) do I need to do anything else besides change the seating die to convert from WC to SWC loading?
Sounds stupid I know, but keep in mind Iím barely making the jump from 310 tools to single stage and turret presses.

The advertisement states that this is for the "Star Progressive" press.  Was this actually the case or was their design for use on Universal Progressive presses?

I just found this topic.  WOW!  If I had a Star Universal in 32 S&W L Iíd be burning up the InterWeb to get the rest of the pieces I needed to get it running.  If youíve been in touch with Bruce, Iím guessing this is a done deal by now.  How about an update?  (maybe some more pictures?  ::) )  This is a pretty hard-to-find caliber for the Stars, at least in this country.

As one of Bruceís customers for this accessory, I can say without fear of contradiction, it is perfect for its intended purpose.  Even if I werenít using it with the Lee collimator Iíd still want it to hold the case feeder tube in place over my Hulme case feeder base.  The aluminum is adequate and functional I am sure, but the brass one is just so elegant!  Thanks Bruce!

Isn't that one of the ones Bruce made/makes to adapt the Lee Case Collimator to a Hulme Case Feeder?  It looks familiar.

Bruce,

Would you happen to have an original 313 die in stock and the punch to go with it?  If yes, please drop me a line here or at my yahoo address if you still have it.  Thanks!

You're fulfilling one of my goals.  The Star press in 32 S&W is like a dream for me and has been for a while. I'm wondering though, why did you start with that instead of the 38 or 45?

Bruce, I'm guessing that truck load wasn't everything you bought from him?  ??? Was there also a moving van involved in the process?  8)

Thanks for your response, Dave. I guess in the long run it would make more sense for me to try and locate an affordable Universal and get a caliber set built for it in 32 S&W L than to bumble along having the extensive work done necessary to convert my long suffering Progressive.  Oh well I guess my K-38 will continue to be well fed! ::)
