Loading Data & Reloading Procedures / Re: Loading Hi-Tek coated bullets
« on: December 30, 2020, 02:48:21 pm »
Hey FOR_Star,
That's right, I purchased quick change plates for all my Stars. I believe Dan had the template already, or I sent it to him, I don't quite remember. But anyway, I like to operate my Stars turned a little sideways to easier seat bullets, so I drilled new holes. They work very well, I have no complaints. Dan makes excellent stuff.

I have been loading Hitek bullets on my Stars, and have had zero problems. You need to apply a little more bell to the case mouth than when loading jacketed or naked lead bullets in order to protect the coating. Here you can see me load some 44-40 with Hitek-coated bullets.

Star Reloaders / Ray-vin discontinued their Star addons
« on: April 09, 2019, 04:05:16 pm »
Looks like Ray and Ruby are no longer offering their case kicker and indexer for the Star. That's really too bad, I was planning on purchasing the indexer, but was too late. I have the case kicker on all my presses, they work flawlessly and are really well made.

Star Lubricator & Resizers / Re: sizer lub

$5 is expensive, $14 is ridiculous. I get all my lube from White Label, you can find them here; https://www.lsstuff.com/store/

I assume the hole lines up with the powder measure spout? This mod could come in handy if you're weighing all your charges and don't want to take the case out of the machine. You could just drop the charge through the hole. That's my guess.

Thank you, that is one smooth working machine. What kind of eject system do you use?

Any chance for a video of the wonder in action?

Here's how I did it, I purchased quick change plates from Dan at Inline. I drilled new holes to that I could change the angle a little bit for easier bullet seating. I haven't drilled holes in the plates for the ejected primers, I only load processed brass on the Stars.

I get a 404 error. It would be awesome to see this thing in action.

Hi Harold,
thanks. I'm not sure if they are a stocked item, but there was no problem getting 4 of them with the correct hole pattern. But I had to drill new holes anyway, I like my Stars to be oriented a little bit sideways for easy bullet seating.
The chutes are 100% home made.

Good day.
I was lucky to come by one, it doesn't have any markings so manufacturer is unknown. As long as it works I'm happy.
I haven't done any serious reloading on the Stars until recently, they sure bring out a lot of nostalgia.

Ole
