Hi everyone, unfortunately I had a family member pass away and left a pretty extensive collection of star machine related items behind. After doing some searching i came across this forum and wanted to see if anyone was able to help appraise and or potentially purchase one (of two available) machine.

I have included an imgur link for photos https://imgur.com/a/5w5cHcb

Thanks in advance for the help

PS im located outside NYC and would prefer a local deal if possible. These seem very difficult to ship.

Star Reloaders / Looking for9mm die(s)
« Last post by Star73 on August 07, 2026, 08:12:02 pm »
I would like to get a 9mm seater or tapercrimp die. Can be either, both, or a full set. They could be Stars, or 7/8-14.
Hoping someone might have die(s) that aren't needed.

Thanks,
Ron

Forty-five years old and still in original packaging.

Not something you will find everyday.

Star History / New Tool Heads

Last year the executor from an estate in New York contacted me about purchasing a few Universals and a number of other Star parts.   We were able to come to a mutually agreeable arrangement and we completed the transaction.   A couple months ago that same executor contacted me and said they had found a couple more tool heads and offered them to me at a reasonable price.   When I received them, I was surprised to see that they were brand new tool heads still wrapped in the San Diego newspaper dated December of 1981.   I just want to show them as a point of reference to how they were shipped back then.

To determine which Lubesizer die the punch is for, you just need to measure it.   Punches are typically a few thousandths smaller than the die it's intended for.

As for the holes, never seen them before probably made by a past user for what purpose I can't say.

Actually, I really don't think those punches were made by Star.   Attached is a picture of various Star nose punches for comparison.

Thank you for your helpful response. It also helps me determine Star-manufactured vs Magma-manufactured since I could not find any markings to indicate manufacturer. Another question: How do I determine what Top Punch goes with which die? I see no indication on how to make this determination. This next question is regarding the attached photo: What is the purpose of the drilled holes in some top punches? Was this a factory job or aftermarket alteration, or?

When Star produced the Lubricator Sizer they manufactured bullet punches that matched the bullet nose.   When Magma too over the business, even though they got the tooling from Star to make Nose Punches, they elected to only produce flat punches for nose first sizing
