Take a look on the web page I listed on My above Post to You and You will see that the 9mm bullet dimensions vary a great deal. from .354 to .357 depending on the
country, gun type, etc., etc.  There are many different so called 9mm's

38 Super Automatic bullets are .356 Inches diameter , that's a couple thousands larger than the bullets from Your Stash. They would probably work OK if You can get them crimped tight enough , but I'm thinking accuracy may suffer. My 2

Star Reloaders / Re: Powder Hopper Thread Size
« on: September 18, 2011, 06:30:27 pm »
Doc
I must side with Dave , I measured all Five of mine and the thread appears to taper about 12 thousands over the length of the thread and under magnification has
the threads flattend as per the spec's for dry seal pipe thread. I also think Star may have chosen this thread to make it easy to start the threads when replacing the
powder measure, Also the threads seal without having to bottom out on a flange or other device.  That's My Two Cents,, Hope it made since.

Star History / Re: Lifetyme Dies - History
« on: August 30, 2011, 09:59:40 pm »
Hi Dave
I looked very closely at one of my Lifetyme dies and it was stamped "Pat Pend" so someone has applied for a Patent. Perhaps You could find info on the Die from that
source. It also had a "Oval with capital P followed by Capital K" enclosed within the Oval which could be a Trade Mark, again this could be a clue as to who made them.
Good luck in Your search.

Spray can of Carburetor cleaner with the long plastic tube on the nozzle, couple squirts followed by a Q-Tip.  WD40 also works, followed by Q-Tip
I lay a rag under the die to catch the goop that come out.

Hi Doc
Don't know the the name of the color, But it is the same as on the dark Blue 1988 GMC K-5 Jimmy.
I suppose a automotive paint dealer could supply the correct color if you gave them the above info.
I'll try to find more on this and be more specific on next post.

Star Reloaders / Paint Match for Stars
« on: August 11, 2011, 03:56:32 pm »

I hope this helps Someone who needs to paint their Star Re loader
As I was throwing out some old cans of paint I discovered a pint size can of touch up paint given to me by the bodyshop when I had my "dark blue 88 GMC Jimmy" repaired after a fender bender. I noticed that a small amount of paint on the outside of the can was a very close match to my Star re loaders, decided to touch up a few scrapes on one of My Stars and after drying the paint was as near a perfect match as you could have.

Loading Data & Reloading Procedures / Re: Setting the taper crimper
« on: July 16, 2011, 12:44:13 am »
Ken
A re sized Case inside dimension is slightly smaller than the bullet, and when the bullet is seated/forced into the case by the seater die there is sufficient friction to hold the bullet in the case.  So the Taper Crimp die is only used to return the belled portion of the case back so that it lays flat against the bullet but not forced into
the bullet. (Leaves a ring) So You should only adjust the taper crimp die down just enough to remove the Bell. (And enough that the finished cartridge fits into the gun
chamber.) Hope this helps.

After a Hundred Years of Near Perfection, Someone came along with a bright new Idea to change something that didn't need changing, I wonder if OBAMA had anything to do with these small Primers ? Oh well, Just a thought.
