Shell plate
« on: February 04, 2017, 12:40:55 pm »
Found a shell plate in a bag of parts  , powder  reservoir,  primer mags etc . She'll plate is under marked , measures about  .388 with digital calipers .  38 split feels very loose , 9mm is tight .
What is it ?

Greetings,

What is the outside diameter of the plate?

Does it have 0.625" or 0.750" diameter die relief?

Around the shell slot, is it straight or does it have a 45 degree chamfer?

Photos of both sides of the plate would be helpful.

Cheers,

Dave

Greetings,

I looked at all my shell plates. None measure the same as yours.

Star generally did not mark the 38 Special and 45 ACP plates. Other calibers I have all are stamped on the bottom.

I suspect that yours is either home-made or a 38 Special plate modified in an attempt to convert to another caliber.

Cheers,

Dave
