The powder magazine that came with my Star has an aluminum flat baffle with a 3/8 diameter hole in it. Is that what you are referring to?.

I've reamed a bunch of bushings over the years so that I'll load with five or six bushings ten rounds each, chrono and pick the one that gives me the desired velocity. I have all of the Hornady bushings available plus a bunch of reamed ones so that I have many choices.

I also use the Hornady bushing system  with the 1/2" powder bar supplied from Star in 1986. I ream the appropriate bushing with a hand reamer to obtain the necessary charge, and have enough reamed bushings to get the chrono results I need. Bob Ayres from MA Systems recommend this system over an adjustable bar. It's an easy way to get repeatable results if you change loads.

Hi Art from so. ct. where I lived for many years. What I have been doing for ever is to remove the spring from the powder slide housing cover, back out both housing screws while holding down the powder slide housing cover and lift the whole assembly off the press and dump the powder back into the container.

Star Reloaders / Re: rounds per hour

I load 1000 rounds per hour easily with no issues with all of the MA systems attachments that make the Star fully progressive. It's fun to see it work fully automated. I do not deprime on this machine to keep it as clean as possible and it looks like new even with hundreds of thousands of rounds thru it.

Have you found out how to fix the problem?

Check this site to download operating instructions for the Star Machine. The primer slide operation is controlled by the bar projecting from the tool head. Some how you must have bent it. It's pretty sturdy so some force must have been applied to it.

Its a 1/2" powder bar with a 1/2" powder slide housing base and a 1/2 " hole in the bar to accept hornaday pistol bushings. Buy all of the bushings and a hand reamer and the possibilities are limitless.

Survey Says... / Re: Extra Parts
« on: February 29, 2008, 06:19:37 pm »
Some parts may be available from Star Machine Works.I have a spare set of springs and a large and small primer slide. The only part I had to replace was a powder spring after loading about 150,000 rounds.

I contacted MA Systems last week and they had all the parts I needed to recondition an Easy Loader. They also have spare parts for the other attachments that they made for the Star. All of their products are peerless.

I guess you did not receive the rest of the parts that came with the MA system ejector. If you did there would be no reason to alter anything on the machine.

MA Systems made a very effective ejector. The one I have has been working without a failure for about 100,000 rounds. How ever I don't think they make them any more.
