Tom,
8.5" plus or minus.  You will need a bigger bench for the additional Stars you will buy.
Good luck.

The crimp die on Ebay is for the tool head that is un-threaded at the last hole.
That guy has been trying to sell that for a long time.

Star History / Re: Its for sale

I worked that area in the late 60s thru the 70s and the Star building was a large Quonset hut probably left over from WWII.
I visited them several times during that period when my shift and beat permitted. It was South on Tenth just off Market St. and the Police Department was at 801 West Market at Harbor Dr.  I would estimate it to be over 3,000 sq. feet, lots of machines and smelled great.

Dave,
If someone were to remove the ball plug and taking care not to cross thread the powder housings threads could the threads be chased using the ball plug female threads?  A lot like running  a buggered bolt onto a nut if you don't have the die.Just a thought.
Thanks.

Dave,

I have a NOS in the box (1984) Green Machine which I bought on a lark and
still haven't opened it.  Stuck on Stars.
You have made several sets of dies for me and if you think you could duplicate
the Green Machine part I would happily take it off my machine and send it to you.
Just let me know.

Star Reloaders / Re: Original Phelps Owners Manual
« on: January 30, 2012, 04:40:35 pm »
Guys,
I believe that my 'Moon Unit Indexer' directions stated for 'Star' only.  The center to center mounting holes on my ' Star'
is 5" and the Phelps are 5 1/8".  Not much but it does make a difference.  If I can find the 'Moon Unit' information I will
post it.

Star Reloaders / Re: 9mm loader
« on: January 27, 2012, 05:55:19 pm »
Tguntrader,
I would back out the seating die and the stem, put an already loaded round in that position and lower the tool head.
screw down the seating die until resistance is felt and do the same with the stem.  Lock the die in place and try an empty case
and bullet to see if your adjustment is correct.  If you screw the die down too far you will buckle the case which you have already found out. 9mm takes a slight tapered crimp.  I like to crimp on the last station and Dave (fc60) makes a super tapered crimper.  Remember opinions are like V.W.'s, everybody has one but this works for me.
Hope this works for you.
