Survey Says... / Re: Camp Perry
« on: March 26, 2016, 07:22:36 pm »
Everyone should have at least two Star machines,I went to Perry from 1970 to 1976 with the pistol ,what a great time, the hut ,that long walk in the morning and those powdered eggs in the mess hall. I returned in 1983 and shot rifle for several years this time with my wife and now two sons, but still had a great time. Perry is a great place it can build you up one moment and then slap you in the face the next .
After retiring I started to look for bullseye matches in Florida and found that most were gone. I then started to shoot some USPSA and ICORE as I could shoot almost every weekend and not drive too far. Now I woke one morning about 6 weeks ago  and thought I should look into shooting bullseye again ( could be my ADHD) .So I pulled out some of  my old stuff  .sent in my entry and might even start to do a little practicing. Hope to see some of you there, but will not be staying a the hut (if they are still there) ,Wife says "Once was enough "

Star Reloaders / Tool head die holes Question??
« on: February 16, 2016, 07:58:06 am »
From looking at the tool head it appears that the sizing hole and taper crimp hole can be opened to 7/8x 14 (standard die size )
Is enough room to open up the seating hole to allow the use of a micrometer type seating die??
Any info helpful
Thanks

Dave made me a complete set of dies and did some tool head modifications and I can tell you that his work is outstanding
it looks better that the original Star parts

He knows Star reloaders inside and out,,if you need parts that he cannot make, I am sure he will know where to find it

Thanks again Dave

Star Reloaders / Set up for 38 short colt
« on: May 14, 2012, 04:38:31 pm »
I need to start loading for 38 short colt . Has anyone here set up their star for this ? On most of the other sites they are using Dillon and from what I see they use a mix of different caliber dies . The 38 sc is basically a shorter 38 special case . I can use a regular 38 special resizing die, shorten  an expander and I guess I could also just shorten a seating and taper crimp die. I could also use an adjustable  powder slide ,but I cannot seem to locate one.  I have several 38 special tool heads and a few spare dies .  Any info would be helpful . Thanks
