The adapter kit Bruce mentions works very well and is very nicely fabricated.

Welcome to the forum!

I'm very new myself but have learned a lot from the helpful people here

Another alternative might be to fit a small extension to the existing tube as a "field expedient" fix. I'll have tolook at mine, ( it's one machined by Bruce I believe) to see how close to the case it extends. On the other hand I'm not sure how far my 38 or 45 spouts extend towards the case when the tool head is lowered.

I do know I see a certain amount of "spillage" after a loading session ... I'll have to watch it the next time I'm running the Stars

Star Lubricator & Resizers / Re: Have sizer, don't have experience
« on: November 03, 2013, 03:46:56 pm »
 ;)

Thanks to all who supplied info. I got the sizer cleaned out, set up, and the correct holes blocked in the die. I did 100 rounds of my newly cast 9mm and they came out great... no lube leak and nice and uniform.  I really appreciate the help

I did process them nose up with a round nose punch (thanks Bruce). What a NICE machine this is.

I finished up reloading them on my Universal .   It's a pretty nice feeling to make the bullet, process the brass and make new ammunition , but I know you all know all of that .

Thanks again for helping me along

Thanks for all the info! I have some reading/watching to do and a die to order before I go any further.

The good news is my newly cast bullets look pretty darned good  :D

Star Lubricator & Resizers / Have sizer, don't have experience
« on: October 13, 2013, 09:36:38 am »
I have a new-to-me sizer and some lead bullets I just cast in 9mm.

What I don't have is a local mentor to show me how to set up a 'sizer.

Is anyone aware of a good description of how to go from having a new tool with no experience to one that is sizing and lubing bullets?  I'm not (totally) dense but the instructions that come with it that are a bit sketchy.

I also need a punch and die for 9mm RN single lube ring

Thanks!

Given the relatively small number of these and the age and desirability, I'm kind of surprised it didn't go for more.

Star Reloaders / Any "Gotchas" about doing 9mm in a Progressive?
« on: July 02, 2013, 01:25:42 pm »
I have an extra tool head, a new set of 9mm dies a new shellplate  and an extra Progressive. I hear that the shell plate needs a few thou removed from the diameter. Does this render it useless for future use on the Universal, or do the adjustment "fingers" have enough travel to compensate?

Can anyone who's actually done this comment on the functionality ? I don't mind swapping the fixturing on my Universal, but it would be nice to have a dedicated 9mm machine

Many thanks to all for your advice.

Star Reloaders / Re: Spent primer drop

My elevated platform has a small PVC pipe aligned with the primer drop hole. The pipe drops into a small box that's under the raised platform.

Star Reloaders / Hulme case feeder question
« on: June 22, 2013, 02:08:36 pm »
Bruce made me a new set of rollers and the pin that actuates the Hulme case feeder. My question is what holds this pin/roller assembly inside of the piston itself? It looks like the front of the piston is threaded. Is there normally a set screw that's inserted in there to hold the "axle" for the rollers in place?

Thanks
John
