Cleaning the seating die
« on: August 25, 2011, 09:30:45 am »
I am loading Star 185g with the micro lube.
The lube builds up in my seating die rather quickly and I need to clean it out or the seating depth changes.
I don't want to have to reset the die every time as I need to clean it every 300-500 rounds or so to ensure no change.

I am using a crude method of a bronze brush and a piece of wood now.

Anyone have an easy way to perform this operation?

Greetings,

It may be a bother; but, I remove the crank assembly and remove the tool head to clean. I use 99% Isopropyl alcohol with a wooden shaft Q-Tip. Takes about 3-5 minutes.

Cheers,

Dave

Spray can of Carburetor cleaner with the long plastic tube on the nozzle, couple squirts followed by a Q-Tip.  WD40 also works, followed by Q-Tip
I lay a rag under the die to catch the goop that come out.

Good Shooting

You may just want to give the case a little more belling, should take care of the problem that is if you don't have an eccess amount of lube.

Cut down on the size lube...See process of blocking the upper & bottom holes on the sizing die.
OR change lube...........
