small primer slide
« on: April 26, 2011, 06:26:07 pm »
Greetings,
I'm new to both Star machines and this site. For about a year I've been the proud owner of a fine old Star Universal which is tooled for .45acp, as well as a second Star tool head for the machine. Love it! Just had a quick question for You guys, will I need to obtain a small primer slide in order to reload for a caliber requiring small primers? If so do you know of anyone on the site who makes them? Thanks in advance, I've been enjoying the posts.
Larry

Looks as if I'll need a smaller version of the primer slide. Also looks as if I'll have one coming!
Thanks everyone.
Larry

It looks like I have the bushing wrench along with Small Primer Punch #24 & a Small Primer Punch Bushing #26, but am lacking the slide. Bruce is going to see if he has an extra small slide. Do you know if these parts sometimes fail, and a backup set would be wise to aquire, (both small & large size)? Or perhaps if any other parts on the Star seem to be an Achilles heel, and a backup would be in order?

If there is any part that might fail I think it would be the de-capping pin. Other than that I have found the Star reloader to be pretty much bullet proof.
