Star Reloaders / Re: Advice on .380 and 38 press

As Dave said, you can't have too many Stars.  But if you don't have the room or the budget, it's nice to have at least two, one for small primers, one for large primers.   Then you can just switch tool heads and shell plates.

I have dies and shell plates for 38 Special.   I also have tool heads.

I also have the 380 conversion kit for the Hulme case feeder.

You can't go wrong with Dave Wilson's dies.  They are beautiful.

The ones I purchased are the same as the one I already owned, so if they are seconds, I don't know why.   Didn't get any upside down ones either.
I would be curious how Lance came by so many of the same caliber.

It actually went really cheep.   $550 plus $100 shipping on a Buy it Now.

I could have bought it, but didn't know what I would do with it.   It was set up for 38 Special.

Stars Want to Sell/Want to Buy / Re: HULME BOLT
« on: October 19, 2011, 02:23:00 pm »
The bolt that attaches the Hulme to the reloader base has a 5/16-24 thread.   The length of the bolt depends on the style/vintage of the Hulme case feeder.   The most common Hulme uses a 2 1/2" long bolt.   The old style uses a 5/8" long bolt.   There is an intermediate style that looks like the newer ones, but has a large hole through the side (you sent me a picture of one).   I think this one also uses a 5/8" long bolt, but I'm not sure, and don't have one at this moment to check.

38 Special and .357 are loaded with the same dies and shell plate.  I have an extra shell plate and die set for 38 Special/.357.

The tool heads are the same, but the angle lever cam is different.   The Progressive tool head uses a #49, the Universal a number #49U

Can't say it's not so, but all of the 41 Mag shell plates that I have are marked 41 or 41 Mag.
