Case Kicker?
« on: April 15, 2012, 10:07:45 pm »
I'm new to the Star reloading tools and am having trouble setting the case kicker on my Star Universal press. Can someone post a picture or instructions on setting this? Thanks for any help,

Dan

Thanks Doc.

The website I looked at previously showed everything was sold out.  I believe I'd heard that Ray has retired and somebody was taking over part of his product line.

Has anyone seen or have an opinion on the round ejector that frequently runs on eBay?

I'm not going to use a indexer, to be honest I've always been a little scared of them.  Ellard gave me a couple of worn out bases with a grooves worn in them.  He said it was caused by the shell canting and the rim eventually causing wear to the base.  My recollection is the M-A Sytems roto-ease did not push on a case but rather pulled on the shell plate.  I used to have a garage full of Star loaders and parts but sold them all off years ago.  I starting to shoot again after a five-year break so I'm going to have to learn where to find everything that I need again.

Thanks again.

Bob
Best Regards.

I am using two of the ones sold on ebay by couragecara. I like them, and their price. The only issue I have had with them is when I started using a factory crimp die in the last station. I had some interference and had to thin the finger some to make room for it and the die to occupy the same space. The man makes several different styles and the latest one made of aluminum/stainless is what I have. I use Brewster indexers on all 5 my Stars and love them. I can imagine some wear on the machine if it was run for long hours, not cleaned by ham handed recruits running them but I think I will be able to load the rest of my life and my sons with no problem with the base wearing.

I've tried to bargin with him.........The ones he has shown lately on eBay couldn't have cost him a
$1.00 or less to make except for time...

I like the finger one that has a adjustment screw in it...But missed it...
I got one from him that mounts on the Safety Cam post and has a Bullet shute......
I got one of his Case feeders, haven't used it yet......

Thanks for the reply gentlemen. I followed the links and that case kicker looks nothing like mine. Mine is a post that threads into the base with a wire that comes down off of it near the shellplate. Any ideas?
