Loading Data & Reloading Procedures / Re: How to set dies
« on: January 24, 2011, 07:18:03 pm »
It has to cam over . The head has to be at its lowest point if you want any consistancy and to do this you have to cam over. The dies need to come close to the shell plate but must not touch. Maybe one day I will measure and see how much clearance Star used in their set up on a NIB Star.

The origional plastic powder reservoirs as delivered by Star were clear PVC tubing. When Star started with these  it may have been the only thing available.

:)  In addition to the 0 , 00 housing   and spacers ,  I have a Star 5/8 housing. I have not seen a 1/2" spacer although they may have made one. I have some 1/2 and 5/8 bars that came with spacers.

I bought my first Star in the mid 70's never really cleaned it properly for quite a few years, although I do now and never had any problems with it.
I have loaded a few hundred thousand rounds  ( 45ACP ) with it and it is still priceless. I have 8 other Stars but this one will never be sold!
