Title: Hulme M3 top plate-switching around

Need some advice please!
Starting to load ammo on my star for the first time(licensing procedures in Australia cause long delays...) and am having feeding problems with the Hulme.
About every 10/15 cases was coming tipped sideways(base first) at say 45degrees or so and causing a hangup.

Seemed to me that the gap between the case mouth and the bottom of the Hulme top plate was allowing this to happen, so I switched the top plate through 180degrees...ie front to back...so that the case no longer has the space in the top plate channel to allow it to flip over.The case mouth is now almost touching the bottom of the top plate and so has no room to tip over.So far, now feeding beautifully.

Is this the way it's meant to be?
Is the channel there for .38 special and reversing the plate to the non channel end is correct for .38super and .45?

You got it.   The M3 top plate is for 38 special and 45 ACP, and cases of similar length like 38 Super.  The end with no recess is for 45 ACP, 38 Super etc.
