I would guess that a tall thin coluum would be the best for the fine grain and ball type powders, but could possibly cause the problem of bridgeing for large grain or stick type powders, just my two cents.

Knock on wood,,, I've been reloading on the star for many many years and have never had a double charge of powder or no charge of powder, but I attribute that to being extremly cautious, and if a  problem developes on the machine causeing an interruption then I simply make sure everything is right before continueing. this device may be useful to help get started after an interruption but would be a pain to use for every round.  I manually check useing a sheetrock nail to check for powder on re-starts.  but everyone to his own !!

Well,, I had gotten by for nearly fifty years useing my left pointer finger as my indexer,, Then I read all this chatter
from all of You on this site about how well this Moon unit worked.    Ordered one from Ray today !!    If it works well,, then I'll mabe order another one.  we'll see.

Take a look at the top of the "powder slide" on your Star Reloader,, if it is stamped "2.8" followed by the
letters "B E"  that means it will throw 2.8 grains of bullseye powder, that should answer Your question about
what type of powder to use.
I could find no reference to the type and wieght of the bullet that you mentioned in your post so can't give
any recomendations there, but a 148 grain lead wadcutter bullet with 2.8 grains of Bullseye powder should
put your load at about 750 feet per second, and with good accuracy and not much recoil.
as far as primers go, any brand name Small Pistol primers should do, I prefer Winchester brand , but everyone to thier own. good luck with your reloading !    REMEMBER, a double charge of powder may blow your gun up !!!!

I bought my star reloaders in the 1950s, I ordered replacement parts,Dies, Punches, etc. by calling Star by
telepone.  they filled the order and shipped it to me with an Invoice telling me how much money that I owed them. at that time I would write them a check and mail the check to them in payment for the parts that I recieved.
did this for many,many years,,, thought it was the norm !! Did anyone else Pay by a different method
