Star Reloaders / Re: Modify for Auto Eject???
« on: November 25, 2012, 06:16:11 pm »
Thanks Dave for letting Us know that the Mod. does work. Now I will have to try this on one of my machines as it appears to really simplify things, no moving parts is
sometimes a good thing.  I'm hoping the wire will allow the use a of Taper crimp die in the last station. Thanks again.

Here are the  Paint Numbers for some General Motors paint that comes about as close to matching the Star re loaders as You can get.

General Motors Paint, Dark blue, WA7349

You should be able to purchase this paint from any automotive paint supplier from touch up pens to gallon size or larger.

Just a thought, there are many different 9mm cartridges, none of them with the same deminsions, Parabellum, Makarov, 9X23, 9X21, 9mm Steyer, 9X23 Winchester, etc.
If You are trying to size parabellum with a Makarov Die  that may be the source of Your problem with hard to Size cases. Just saying.

I would be interested in how well this modification works, Have you reloaded with it ? and if so did it work OK without binding or jamming ?
I have reservations about cutting the floor base on these old machines, but if it the Mod. works well...., it appears to be about as simple as can be.
Perhaps someone who has seen/used this Mod could chime in and give Us some details.

Stars Want to Sell/Want to Buy / Re: Small Primer Slide Needed
« on: September 17, 2012, 02:14:31 am »
Steve
I have a new Primer slide that I can spare, But it is possible that Your Problem could be solved using Your existing slide by making an adjustment of the "angle lever cam." This cam can be bent toward or away from the tool head to align the primer slide so that the primer punch is centered on the hole in the slide  at the bottom of the down stroke.

Here is how to do it: To adjust primer slide bend the cam( that operates the angle lever) either in or out as necessary to cause the inner end of primer slide to just
touch the main column without any strain on the angle lever when the handle is all the way down.

If You still need a new small primer slide Email me:  miltonetime (at sign) aol (dot) com

Roughley measured with a wood ruler I got 8 1/2 inches diameter of the base with 5 1/2 between mounting holes.
Hope this helps.

There are several Indexers for the Star, The best one that I have found is the "Moon Indexer" and they are available at SB Sales and Distributing.

www dot sbdistributing dot com

That will get You to their Home page, Then look on the left side of the page for "Star Accessories" , Left click on it and You are There.

Star Reloaders / Re: What size die is This ?
« on: June 05, 2012, 12:30:20 am »
Thanks Dave
You are probably right.  When I first looked at this thing closely, I thought it was a Crimp die, but then why would it have a carbide insert instead of the
larger opening of the crimp die. now I'm wondering if during manufacture someone made a mistake.
I would like to post pic's but My digital camera wont take closeups. Anyway, Thanks for Your thoughts on this.

Star Reloaders / What size die is This ?
« on: June 02, 2012, 10:34:39 pm »
I have a no name sizing die that I can't identify, it is a stepped die, it has a carbide insert with an opening at the mouth of .376" and the tapered step begins
at .680" from the mouth and extends another .140" while tapering down to .3695" Anyone have any thoughts as to what cartridge this is for ??

Good Idea !! The only thing I can recommend would be to also get a heater base for the Star Sizer-Luber and use a hard Lube instead of the sticky stuff.
Used Star lubers show up on EBay and some of the other forums once in awhile, Trouble is, You never really know the condition until you have it in Your
Hands. but You May save a few Bucks buying used.

Perhaps I will Dremil it to fit a .44 Mag instead of swapping heads to another base.

Star Reloaders / Last Station Dimensions
« on: May 19, 2012, 10:11:26 pm »
Measured the width of the opening where the Case rim exits the Base ( with a Kicker ) on the taper crimp station,  4 out of 5 openings measured .555 inch the other one measured .495 , Found this after setting up to load .44 mag,, Guess what ,the rim on a 44 mag is wider than the opening. Anyone have this problem before ??  I guess I can modify by grinding the opening larger, or swap the head to another base with a larger opening.
