Star Reloaders / Re: Finished Round Counter
« on: April 22, 2009, 10:05:07 pm »
I have a Dillon counter that is not used.  It is case actuated as Swannee mentioned.
I do not use it, as I personally did not see a need for it, but that of course is a personal choice.
If you can figure out a way to utilize it, I would be open to disposing of it reasonably.

Have one, but do not use it.
I may have instructions I can copy for you if you do not get any assistance. No pictures though.
Have to look. Let me know.

Are they still functional?

in the photo of the 41mag. machine, the hroizontal  brass tubes in the base (there are three of them) are the early idea of the "Shell Base Locating Strap" assembly. - - the tubes have springs inside that give tension to the locating strap ( see part # 79U STAR RELOADING TOOL ILLUSTRATION AND PARTS LIST Illustration - Column 1

That answers the question.
Thanks.

Not sure Ron.
Actuator for what? I can't imagine what purpose it would serve.
Almost looks like it is below or part of the retaining strap.

Very interesting.

On the .44 mag. Is the small brass tube protruding from the sizing station for the spent primer to come out the front rather than drop through?

Star History / Re: Star Price History
« on: March 26, 2009, 10:43:31 am »
Found an original 1984 invoice.  Fits right in line with  rbwillnj's listing above.
Price list is dated 1983.  Shows the price of a reloader [no e-mail]@ $ 925.00  Like the 1988 list, says "new lower prices".
"OO" powder slides were $ 14.00 each at the time.

Interesting to note, was that the price list included a piece of paper noting order and delivery time. The number for months was handwritten in blue ink to say that orders for all items (presses, toolheads, parts, lubrisizers) each was one month, upon receipt of payment.

Survey Says... / Other prices & Values?
« on: March 18, 2009, 01:07:27 pm »
I started the prices and values as a way of gauging selling and buying by members as an easier way to track trends. It allows for placement of the majority of information in one place on this forum instead of scattered in various posts.
Are the listings for prices and values helpful?
Should I add anything in the comments?
Should I continue?

If so;
Is there any interest in tracking other Star items, or other equipment in general?
I do list toolheads, and have included Berdan and CPM when listings were found.
Most from Ebay, as there is little from Gunbroker or Auction Arms. Anyone know of other possible sites?

Star History / Re: Method of payment
« on: March 09, 2009, 01:42:20 pm »
I can remember two separate occurrences.
1. My father bought some parts in the late 60s, or early 70s. Either for the Reloader or Lubri-sizer. Parts sent with an invoice for payment, but not positive if the parts were directly from Star or through Gil Hebard at the time? I know Hebard was a reseller of Star.
2. I purchased a new Star (direct) for a friend in the early 80s, who was getting into Bullseye. Everyone advised him Star was the way to go, so I ordered one for him at his request with some extras. I was sent a price quote, and a note that the order would be processed as soon as payment received.

I should still have the early 80s order paperwork in my files. Will take a look and post any pertinent info if there is any.

Received additional parts in a timely manner.
Ordered early January, (7th) received yesterday 02/27.

Bill did E-mail me that he was waiting for check to clear since I made it to him not Star Machines. My mistake.

I know Bill has time constraints and other obligations that cause some delay,  but has always followed through with parts orders.
Still a good source.

Have not seen much on Ebay from him lately.
If you are on a time line you may want to  contact him directly through e-mail or phone.

I believe I paid $ 99.00 including shipping.
He has had them on ebay occasionally at a little less w/buy it now, and various shipping options/incentives.
I bought it when I was able to acquire a 9mm setup, and have ability to load differing combinations of heads and powder loads.

Sorry but I do not have a picture.
Overall sized and similar to a standard slide. Center elongated with a sliding adjustment that is moved by a threaded stem that protrudes. Very tight, and holds setting, although I confirm regularly for safety.
Comes with a conversion chart to help get stared quickly.

Hoag also made on in the past. Very similar in nature.
Rich is one of the few persons I am aware of still making items for the Star.
I do not know Rich personally, but am happy with dealing with him so far.
