Stars Want to Sell/Want to Buy / Re: WTB: Hulme Case Feeder Cam Plate

I got one from Richard Daniels aka Barrel Tester.  You can get his email from the members list under Barrel Tester.

I have several of his "creations" and he does excellent work.

I received my cam plate (actuator to be more exact) from Richard Daniels yesterday and have already mounted it on my Star.  As you said, "He does excellent work!" and I would recommend Richard's work without hesitation.

Glad to hear you are already in "production mode", IMO you can't buy a better lubrisizer than a Star.  Just as an FYI:  Star has changed to lubing/sizing bullets nose down.  Their bullet punch comes flat now and no longer follows the contours of the bullet nose.  You can email Magma Engineering and ask them for a free manual if you need one.  The manual provides the correct setting from the bullet punch to the top of the sizing die for many cast bullets.

Hi Bruce,

Received my new Hulme style top plate today!  Beautifully made and thank you for the super fast service.  This is the third top plate that I've bought from you and each one has worked perfectly.  Anyone looking for a Hulme style top plate, I can recommend Bruce's products without reservations.

Hi Karl,

I sent an email with invoice to the email address I have on file.   The forum software scrubs email addresses written in standard format, so I couldn't use the email address in your message above.   Hopefully the email address I used is still good.

Best Regards,
Bruce

Stars Want to Sell/Want to Buy / WTB: Hulme Case Feeder Cam Plate

WTB:  Does anyone have a spare Hulme cam plate or make a duplicate?  Have ordered this part from Richard Daniels AKA Barrel Tester.  Thanks to all responses

Received my 9mm Hulme top plate yesterday.  Never fails to impress me as to the excellent workmanship and quality of materials put into such a small item.  Thanks again for your fast service!

Anyone looking for the clamp to the Hulme feed tube?  Bill Cunningham who took over the Star reloader when Star in San Diego closed down has them.  Almost an exact duplicate of the original clamp.  Mine was slightly longer than my original and it looks like the spring steel lips are a tad thicker but it works fine with my half inch feed tube.  IMO, machine work as well as materials is excellent.

Hi Bruce,

Do you still have any Hulme top plates for 9mm?  karl dot young one at cox dot net.

Good Idea !! The only thing I can recommend would be to also get a heater base for the Star Sizer-Luber and use a hard Lube instead of the sticky stuff. . . Lindy
Plus 1 on that suggestion.  The Star heater base is a bit pricey (about $90) but it comes with a thermostat.  Lyman makes a heater base that fits the Star and costs a lot less but it has a set temperature which is a bit too high for the lube that I use.  Those who use the Lyman suggest placing a dimmer switch in line with the heater base to act as a thermostat.

IMO, the Star is the best and fastest lubrisizer on the market.

Did that guy ever make any Star's?
Not to my knowledge.  I believe, please correct me if I'm mistaken, he sold off all of the new completed Stars that he had and is currently doing rebuilding and supplying parts.  Years ago, I sent him my 9mm tool head to have a hole d&t for a taper die station.  He did a good job on my tool head.

Star Reloaders / Re: Hulme feed tube question
« on: March 30, 2012, 11:08:33 pm »
They should work.........Try loading some .38 cases in one and SEE if they work.........
I've used the same size for both, .38 & .45 for years...............

That's my nickels worth............. ;) ;D
Hearing that the same size feed tube works for both calibers is more than a nickels worth of advice to me.  I was expecting to buy feed tubes of different I.D.s in order to cover the calibers that I reload!  Thanks a bunch for your reply and I'll give it a try! ;D ;D ;D

Go to the Magma Engineering site, contact them and ask the price of a die removal tool.  Being outbid on eBay was probably a blessing.
