Hello from a new Star Owner
« on: November 07, 2010, 03:14:39 pm »
I just got a hold of a Star Universal.  It is one little amazing machine.  I also own a Dillon 650 and a Hornady L-N-L Progressive.  I have not loaded anything with the Star yet but from the feel of it wow.  Very smooth operation.  I do have a couple questions.  It came with a Hulme case feeder and I am wondering if there are any instructions available for setup?  I tried a search and followed the link to the pictures but it is a dead link.  What I would like to do is set up the Star for 9mm.  It came with the dies etc but I am not sure what kind of top plate to use.  Thank you everyone for your time and a great site.

Gday dust dog,

If you go back to the home page of this site(not the forum, the star reloader site) and have a look around then you will find the instructions for setting up your star.
Cheers   ;)

Hulme made a caliber specific top plate for 9mm.   It's easy to recognize, it is stamped 9M on top.

Here is a link to an old thread that shows pictures of the top plates for 9mm and .380.

Star Machine Works
Star, the original blue Press.  Made by machinist, not machines.

Thanks for the replies.  I have the M3 plate and a 30C plate.  I will have to either find, make, or modify a plate for 9mm.
