That's great information rbwillnj, as you know from previous post I reloaded for the
Pistol Team in the 60's........ 8) and that's the type 1911's they used... ::)
I believe they still have some of the 1911, .38 Spec. in the vault at the Academy... 8)

I loaded SWC, 148gr, for the Clark 1911..My mentor, Bobby Bloxom who loaded the ammo for
Jim Clark and shot with him at Camp Perry didn't advise me to do anything but use a crimp
to use in the 1911 .38 Spec which Jim Clark developed here in Shreveport..... ;)

Never had any problems..... :D

My Nickels worth.. ;D

You're correct on the Tool Head..... ;D but I'm still curious about the Loader.. ???
It has a Standard Star Base, #11, I'm not certain about the #14 Shell Plate Thrust Nut,
I have a Phelps, I'll go look, It's a Phelps Thrust Nut........
I'm wondering why it has a Star Style Base Plate.. ??? A Phelps Base is a lot thicker... :-\

I believe 1 Shellplate is a Star and the other is a Phelps... ::)

My nickels worth.........

Rick
The Up-side-down head on the left is a Phelps..........The other Heads are Star Heads....
Can't tell about the head on the loader...............If you look at the botton of the head and
it looks like the one on the left, it's a Phelps, if not and it has a raised part on the bottom
around the column shaft hole, it's a Star.............. :o
The Loader is a Star Universal......... ;D

This Pic shows the bottom of a Phelps Head .... >  FLAT :o

Thanks Doc.

I don't have much faith that they would have one.... :-\

All the Co's I've found that show them in their Catalog say they have
been discontinued and not available a LONG LONG Time ago... >:(

So much for OSHA intervention......... :( >:(

Thanks for the reply Jerry

No such animal 'NEW', the tank with that type of Valve ... >:(  Nobody seems
to have any of those Furnace Heads... ??? ???
I've called around, but Nobody knows what I'm talking about or haven't seen
any for years.. :(
They, plumbers, haven't used that setup since PVC was invented........ ::)

I casted with a pot like that back in the 60's when I was on the Police Dept.
for the pistol team....The pot went with me to the new Academy and was
used to melt lead from the bullet traps.....I left everything there after I retired.........
It disappeared after that...I've gotten interested in reloading again and would
like to acquire that type of setup again....
Again, thanks for the reply and Happy New Year... :D
