Powder Measure Question
« on: November 26, 2006, 06:14:18 am »
I receintly picked up a Star and have been cleaning it up and getting to know it.

The powder slide cam contacts the powder magazine as the head assembly actuates up and down.
I see no adjustment to keep this from happening. On one powder magazine a grouve is forming
in the brass adapter.

Could one of the more experienced Star users explain if this is the way its supposed to be,
and if needed how to adjust/correct it.

Thanks in advance.

I've been told that is improper to respond to your own post, but if it answers the questions posed
then I feel its OK.

The powder slide cam was installed backwards. The curve of the finger was toward the powder
magazine instead of away. So we now know it can be installed both ways.  :)

I had one press taken apart for cleaning, conditioning. The second press had the slide cam installed
backwards. When I put the press back together I used the other as a model.
Now I know better.

Maybe another new Star owner will remember this and learn from my error.

I just couldn't imagine how the powder slide cam could be interfering with the powder magazine.  Now I understand.  Thanks for you post.
