I'm pretty sure Lee will still turn dies for the Star, though I'd much prefer getting mine from Dave!

Star Reloaders / Hulme feeder mouting hole
« on: December 14, 2014, 10:38:18 am »
Star brothers, what was the process when getting a Hulme case feeder in regards the mounting hole for the feeder itself. I had assumed all Star bases came with that hole drilled and tapped , but a recent acquisition proved that incorrect.

Is there a template for positioning this hole or am I better off sending it somewhere to get the mounting hole machined and tapped? I'm not a machinist but I'm pretty good with tools (there's a dangerous combination!)

Thanks and Merry Christmas
John

This is fantastic news for the Star community.

I can think of nobody else whose interest, experience and craftsmanship matches that of the original Star shop than yours do Bruce.  Congratulations and I look forward to trading with you in the future.

Bingo...I got mine off of Ebay as well, and it was quite affordable.

Good suggestions all.

I use a spent casing painted red as a powder catcher.  I also keep a small supply of primed brass to slip into the press via the post-primer station should I need to synch up the progression.

The best advice I can offer is to remember that if you have powder in your hopper, every time you pull the handle it's going to drop powder.

There's always been a number of Star presses on Ebay, however this week seems to take the cake. There's a huge number up for grabs for some imponderable reason.

It's probably just random chance but it's interesting to see the profusion of them right now.

Star Lubricator & Resizers / Re: Question on Powder Coating and Star Sizer

I have sized 500-600 powder coated 9mm in my Star sizer, with no wear that I can see. Works great, and keeps everything clean.

Hello. I am not aware of this being possible , but I believe I read that there are some working on this modification.

Federal seems to be the biggest group of knotheads offender in my samples, with BLAZER being the one I find most often.  I presort my brass but inevitably some squeak through.

It's a perfect answer to a question nobody asked. Undoubtedly some beancounter breakthrough to save money...

Is it possible that the angle cam you have is from a progressive and being used on a universal? I have run into this issue as well.
