Unknown shellplate
« on: October 01, 2011, 09:13:44 am »
I was going through some accumulation of star parts and discovered an unmarked shellplate. It is sized between a 38/357 and 44 and is made for a rimless case. The opening measures about .405" with my dial calipers. Does anyone have any idea what it is for?

Greetings,

What is the outside diameter of the shell plate?

I checked two of my 45 ACP Plates and they measure 3.673" OD and 0.406" (about) opening.

I have never seen 45 ACP plates marked as such.

Cheers,

Dave

After checking from the right side it is a 45 ACP.
I have a few sellplates that came on Stars that I bought new that are unmarked (38 and 45 )

In my experience, only the 38 Special and 45ACP shell plates are unmarked.  Some 38 Special shell plates are marked with a "U" (Universal?).

ETA: it was .403 +/- .002 and it was .41 mag

ETA: missed the rimless  :(

Can't say it's not so, but all of the 41 Mag shell plates that I have are marked 41 or 41 Mag.
