Loading Data & Reloading Procedures / WST loads for 38 wadcutters
« on: January 10, 2012, 10:42:38 pm »
Greetings:
Back in the day, I shot Federal Match Wadcutters in my Model 52. That is no longer practical for me and I would like to develop a load using WST powder and Federal cases. Advice on case prep, load data, etc. would be appreciated.
Thank You
Jep

Star Reloaders / Re: Purpose of case clipping primer slide angle lever #48?

It also jiggles the primer slide to allow better seating of the primer in the slide.

My Bad.  When I had the two pictures for comparison, what I have is the common decal.

Hi:
I have three tool heads purchased in the late sixties that all have a decal that looks like that one.  They all came from Gil Hebard.
What does the other decal look like?  Gil was able to supply tools for me and the police department with no wait.  Good service.

Hi:
I have found some .45 ACP brass that has small primer pockets.  They do bind up the machine.

Re Freeloader:
I have one and am still using it.  It is a "china" salad bowl with a hole ground in the center of it glued (originaly) to a plastic kitchen funnel with the pour spout reamed to fit on the Hume tube.  The tube is fastened to the link and the motion combined with the slope of the bowl stands the cases up so they can drop through the hole into the tube.

Hi:
I was able to adjust the cam on the tool head by slipping a large box end wrench over the cam and pushing on it. Be careful and check often to see if it has moved enough.

Survey Says... / Re: Camp Perry

I first shot at Camp Perry in 1962.  Won a silver tea spoon in .22 timed fire as a Sharpshooter.  Legged out at Perry in 87.  I have just started shooting again after a ten year layoff.   Jep
