Stars Want to Sell/Want to Buy / WTB: H&G 275 Mould
« on: July 03, 2013, 02:10:43 pm »
This is a 125gr. SWC mould for 9mm/.38 Super, usually sized .356".  I would prefer a gang mould in great condition w/ handles.  If you have one available, please let me know.

Thanks,
James

45 acp.....185 gn Lead SWC.....Colt Series 70 Gold Cup National Match

Does this gun have any type of optic sight mounted on it?  Usually 3.5 gr. BE will work for open sights.  A heavier charge is needed if there is a slide mounted sight - usually in the 3.8 to 4.2 range.

45 acp......185 gn Lead SWC.....Smith & Wesson Model 25-2

You can go lower, say 3.0 gr. of BE.

Question: What are my chances that the same powder charge will work for both 45 acp guns?

3.5 gr. will work in both guns, assuming the M1911 is open-sighted.

38 spl......148 gn Lead HBWC...Colt 1960's Vintage Gold Cup National Match

2.5 gr. should work well in this gun, depending on the strength of the recoil spring.  If it doesn't, try 2.7 gr.

38 spl......148 gn Lead HBWC...Smith & Wesson Model 14-2

2.5 to 2.7 gr. will shoot well in this gun.

Question:  What are the chances that the same powder charge will work for both 38 spl guns?

Yes, see the above info.

Stars Want to Sell/Want to Buy / Re: WTS Star Universal

FWIW, I recently purchased a Star Universal with two heads, set up for .38 and .45, for $650.  There were other accessories included as well. If you are going to ask $800. for yours, it has to be in perfect condition and it should be disassembled by someone who knows what they are doing, cleaned, and lubricated.  There should be other accessories with it as well.  If this is done, you may get your asking price.

Great explanation.  The details were interesting.  Thank you.  I am currently shooting a Clark .38 1911 and am having a few issues that I am working on.  It's about 95% reliable.  Not good enough yet...

Star Reloaders / Re: Star vs. Dillon
« on: March 30, 2012, 09:24:52 pm »
I have six Stars and three Dillons.  I use all six Stars and two of the Dillons (One is still NIB).  The Stars are much better made machines and I loove using them.  The Dillons are well made too, but not on the order of the Star, and I use them to produce ammo.  The Stars create some great ammo and they are the ones I would never sell.

FWIW...
