I thought that there was a list here somewhere of all the calibers Star made presses in but I can not find it.  Anyone know where it is?

Star History / Star Bullet Moulds
« on: May 26, 2013, 07:21:11 pm »
I know that Star sold some with their name on them but those were probably made by Hensley.

But I seem to remember Elord telling me that they made one themselves.  Meant to be mounted to a work bench and filled with a dipper I had something like 100 cavities.  Anyone know anything about this?

Star History / Winchester Patent
« on: March 07, 2007, 09:09:37 pm »
The Star was just a copy of an earlier Winchester machine that Winchester patented in the 1890's.  But I've lost the number of that Winchester patent.  Anyone know what it was?

Star Reloaders / Whatever Happened
« on: January 19, 2007, 12:16:01 pm »
Some fellow bought the rights to make the Star progressives.  Obviously he didn't do much with the uniquie opportunity.  So what, if anything, is he doing with the company?

If you do a search on E-Bay for Star reloader you'll find one marked patent pending.  Kind of interesting.

OK so it isn't a Star but it is a RARE machine.? There is a Ransom progressive on e-bay.? This is only the second one I've ever seen.? I owned the other.

Checked with Ransom International.  According to an e-mail received today, 100 were made.

Star Reloaders / Current Manufacturer

You suppose that there is any possibility that someone will seriously try to make the Star again?  Obviously the current owner isn't producing any significant number of new machines, if any.  Seems like such a shame that someone like Ballisti-Cast or Magma didn't buy the rights to this machine.  A 75+ year history of excellent allowed to just slip away.  Maddening!

Star Reloaders / Star Straightline
« on: September 28, 2005, 09:53:10 pm »
Estimate vary.  Maybe as few as three or as many as 20 were made.  Pictured in Sharps book.  I tend to believe the 20 number because I know for certain that there were three.  I owned one, given to me by Ellord Mott, RCBS has one in their press collection years ago and there was a third.

In any event I sold mine to Ron Peterson of Ron Peterson Guns of Albuquerque in 97.  I understand that he still has it and that it is for sale.  If you are interested you need to talk to Ron, no one else.

Star Reloaders / Wilkerson??
« on: March 15, 2005, 12:38:30 am »
For maybe a decade before Star closed a father and son worked there named, I think, Wilkerson.  The father worked in the plant.  The son, Rob, answered the phone and took the orders.  When the father retired it was to Phoenix.  That happened years before Ellord died.

Anyone know how to reach these people?

Star Reloaders / Current state of manufacturer
« on: January 15, 2005, 11:59:57 am »
Anyone know what's going on concerning currently made machines?

In Star's last days the quality of workmanship probably wasn't all it should have been.  Still, even then, Star had orders.

Once Star folded, however, the new owner seems to be completely disinterested.  True this probably would not have been a REALLY big business but it was a going concern.  Other than kill Star off, has the new owner done anything?
