The very best bullet feeder for the Star was made by MA Systems. I have one and it is a beautifully designed attachment that works flawlessly. You can see one in operation on You Tube.

If it happened on two different Star machines then it might be external like humidity? For Star made a lot of good points. I would run a dryer sheet thru all of the powder delivery components. I have never had that happen in 250,000 rounds of loading on my Star.

Like Dave I always remove powder from the hopper after reloading. I also shake the container of powder before filling the powder hopper. Never had anything but perfect loads thru my Star in 250,000 rounds. My hopper has a Star baffle.

Forgot to mention my Star is fully equipped with all MA System attachments including bullet feeder, case feeder, shell plate rotator and eject- ease.  All primers were perfectly seated and never a squib load or double charge.

I've loaded 250,000 rounds on my 1986 Star and the only broken part was a primer slide spring. The machine still looks new because I deprime and resize on a Dillon 550 with a case feeder to reduce wear on the base of the Star from burnt powder residue.

I think the price was low being in that condition.

I've loaded 250,000 rounds on my Star Machine and have never had a primer issue meaning perfectly loaded primers every time. Both Star and Bruce's followers are works of art. They were designed as Bruce stated ,and I am always very careful lowering the rod with both hands.

That does not appear to be a Star base.

In 1986 the Hulme case feeder that I purchased with the machine from Star in .45 Auto came with a M3A plate and came with this note. To change caliber of feeder to .45 Auto., .38 Auto., or .45 Auto Rim reverse the Selector Plate end-for-end on either the Mark3 or Mark3A.
