Loading Data & Reloading Procedures / Re: Expander plug depth
« on: April 30, 2013, 02:16:23 pm »
I think that the expander was designed to also hold the case down while seating a primer to eliminate stress on the shell plate. I had to modify my expander in order to load 38 supercomp brass as it was bulging the base of the case. This may not be relevant to the question though.

That is a great set up but I would not have the guts to make mine an auto drive as I'm more comfortable feeling the machine. You are also very mechanically inclined. Nice job.

Star Reloaders / Re: anyone use a MA Systems Bullet feeder
« on: July 02, 2012, 12:14:21 am »
John I received the Hulme from Star with the machine in 1986. The MA case feeder from what I understand is a very good design as it does not obstruct any stations. Angus that is a tube with a micro switch that controls the collator. The Easy Loader is operated by an air control switch that's mounted to the top of the machine. I think the micro switch tube assembly for the bullets is available from MA Systems. I got one from them about a year ago. I have been buying spare parts from them for a while now but like the Star I have never needed any. You can see the air switch at the top of the machine. You can use the control switch to zoom in. The Easy Loader was designed for the Star and the Dillon 1050. The Kiss bullet collator is available from Kiss Mfg.

Angus you also need the bullet tube with micro switch, a bullet collator and an air supply. A friend of mine makes the Kiss Bullet Feeder that works for every press except the Star. Go on You Tube and you can see it in operation. It works great with the 1050 and is about $400.00. He gave me a bullet collator that I use on my Star. The Kiss machine is used by all of the IPSC shooters that I know of and it works superbly. Give MA Systems a call they have parts for that Easy Loader. Thats a good find if you got that at a reasonable price as it was $350.00 new when it was available. I have not made a video yet but I will soon.

I have been using the MA System Easy loader for a few years now and it is a joy to operate. It is a trouble free system if set up correctly. I would grab it as I have never seen them offered. They were very expensive from MA Systems.

I'm trying to think of something I need from Dave. The dies and seater stems I received from him should have been stamped Perfection.

I don't look at E- Bay any longer because of all of the Star- Phelps advertising. Mentioning the Phelps name with Star is blasphemy.

That's a little pricey for a machine that's been hanging in the garage. Probably has a little rust on it.

My guess is the demand slowed due to Dillon's emergence into the market and Stars aging staff also MA Systems products were expensive. The Easy Loader without collator and air supply was $355.00 in 1986.
