I use the .500 powder bar with Hornady Powder bushings #1 thru 20. I pick the bushing that produces the closest charge then chrono to see if i need to ream the bushing for more powder. It's works well and was recommended by Bruce Aryers of MA Systems.

Have never had a powder drop failure in 285,000 rounds just watch that the powder magazine has powder in it.

I have used one for years and would hate to be without it That's why I bought I think all the spare parts that MA Systems had for it. It runs flawlessly. They were very expensive years ago and you also need a bullet collator and an air supply.

I have a new 9mm Star shell plate and new Star 9mm 4 die set and I cannot part with them. I was going to shoot 9mm in USPSA but stayed with 38 super comp.

I have loaded over 280,000 rounds on my Star and every round has been perfect, can't say that about any other machine. The powder drop and primer operations and many other things are what separates the Star from others.

Although I only load 38 Supercomp on my Star and it has all MA System attachments also with a Mr Bullet feeder it has loaded 275,000 rounds of perfect ammunition. Never had a squib or a primer problem. One can never say that with a Dillon 1050 or any other machine. I have seen many problem reloads from Dillion machines. I would love to have the new Mark 7 auto loader but would not give up the reliability of the Star. There will always be a place for the Star machine.

Bill was a nice guy but Bruce is unequaled in carrying on the Star. The Star is still a great machine even in todays market. I have loaded 280,000 rounds on my 1986 Star never had a squib or a bad primer seating and never had a bad round. Every round is perfect and never had to case gauge . My Star has all of the MA System attachments and is still fun to operate. Have loaded primarily .38 Supercomp for USPSA.

Star Reloaders / Re: Adapting A Star to Power Drive

There are some people who have adapted to auto drive using the ammobot drive I think you can view it on you tube. With those systems you give up the fool proof loading of the Star. There will always be issues with those systems that will fail. If you want to auto load I would sell the Star and buy a 1050 and the Mark7 machine. It is also a big learning curve and very expensive.

I have a spare new indexer but do I want to part with it?. MA System products were the best made.

The very best bullet feeder for the Star was made by MA Systems. I have one and it is a beautifully designed attachment that works flawlessly. You can see one in operation on You Tube.
